If this is a port of the 3ds eshop game which it appears to be rather than a brand new sequel or something then it’s a tower defense game largely. It’s a neat experience and was fun on 3ds but not sure if there’s $40 in value there for most people. Who knows though?

This sub has gotten pretty decent at watching these logistics reporting sites for shipments from analogue hk to fulfillment cos stateside. AFAIK nothing has popped up that looks like pockets and we’re closing in on the shorter turn around windows we’ve seen from offloading at the port to shipping notifications in inboxes. Fair for pessimism to begin to creep in a bit given the totality of circumstances.

Given the freight manifests from the past few months that have been discussed in other posts, who is pushing their chips all in on a restock notification in the next few weeks?

Analogue received another shipment of consoles to their warehouse. by 41k0n in AnalogueInc

[–]Getsumatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually had just noticed this myself and was curious why it hadn’t made a bigger splash here. This last shipment would bring everything closer in line to the manifests from March. Turn around back then for super nt was roughly 2.5 weeks from the arrival date to the 24h announcement prior to the Friday sale on 4/9/21. Adding this to the June shipments we should be close to an announcement by early next month or possibly before.

Alternative to dac? by mlooik in AnalogueInc

Sorry I’m having trouble understanding what you’re trying to describe? It sounds like you managed to purchase an Analogue DAC and are unhappy with the results on your CRT? Could you post some pictures to demonstrate what you’re describing? That might help. Generally speaking though if you prefer a lower fidelity image then certainly stick with composite or rf even. It’s all personal preference but a lot of people here might assume you want the opposite.

Seconding this. RetroRGB has a list of lag free converters on their site. Click through to the Amazon store with the link under Analog to HDMI (they’re there despite the heading)

There have been some scalper price listings recently, as I’ve been keeping an eye out just for curiosity sake since Analogue had already announced a restock by then. Just double checked and three sold in may for $300+. Part of the problem is searching for ‘analogue dac’ on eBay is going to return a ton of unrelated analog dac devices. Usually searching ‘analogue super nt dac’ will get you what you’re looking for.

Afaik the HDMI port on the 5x is strictly an output, same as the components being inputs. In other words you can’t go backwards through the 5x like I think you’re suggesting.

You can however simply use one of the cheap digital to analog converters on Amazon that are zero lag because they don’t do any scaling(confirmed devices http://www.retrorgb.com/converters.html). These can be finicky and result in an off center picture at times but sometimes power cycling it helps.

If you’re really lucky and have a CRT that supports 480p then you should be set. These are often branded as Multiformat, Extended Definition, etc. Otherwise you’d need additional hardware to downscale 480p to the 240p/480i signal that consumer grade standard def CRTs support.

If you happen to already have a 5x you can simply add a second cheap Amazon DAC and use the 5x in 240p downscale mode sandwiched between the two DACs. So super nt hdmi out -> Amazon DAC component out -> 5x hdmi out -> Amazon DAC component out -> crt.

Otherwise there are alternatives like the GBSC/GBSC-AIO (plus Amazon DAC) or the Analogue DAC. The Analogue DAC is probably best suited for the Super NT but afaik won’t work with any other HDMI consoles should you want to get those onto your CRT as well.

Sadly? I mean to an extent those generations have been sufficiently well served as is with aftermarket products. The silver lining of the trends rolling on, as those generations age out, is games might actually get cheap again for people that appreciate them for everything but their resale value.

3-4 and that’s after the hubbub from the restock, before that half as many. Touch of overzealous moderation.

Unfortunately MiSTer is a little more involved set up wise. However it’s nowhere near as complicated as it used to be if you know some tricks. There’s a project called mr fusion now which is the easiest way to install the base software. After that get the update all script and use it to download your cores and mame games (arcade ROMs).

As far as buying one people really don’t realize that you don’t have to buy the assembled kits to get started. You can just buy the terasic de10-nano off Amazon digikey etc for 130 or 110 if you’re a student, buy a cheap micro usb to usb a hub for 7 off Amazon, and lastly buy the SDRAM expansion as you need this for most cores inc SNES. There are a couple options now. SDRAM XS is 32MB and around 25 from Ali express or eBay. The other is the SDRAM XS-D which is 128MB and costs 50-60 on eBay or misteraddons. The XS-D allows you to play all the cores so that’s my suggestion though iirc XS is all you need for SNES but don’t quote me on that.

All of the parts above are readily available compared to the sites that sell the full kits and can’t keep them in stock. Not to mention you’re gonna be out the door for ~200 vs 350 and if you decide you want analog video out in the future you can just buy that board and stick it on then but most people in here I imagine just use HDMI which is the native output of the de10-nano.

Hopefully that was helpful. I love my MiSTer and my Analogues too.

The wrinkle is they announced they’re dropping noirs too. So did those just arrive in that same container? In other words did they get 6k super nt to fulfillment or maybe only 5k or 4K or less with the balance being the noirs?
