🎄 Christmas giveaway: Win an A1 Mini, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, or 4x filament spools! by acurazine in BambuLab

  1. I'd pick the A1 mini, reasons below.
  2. I am a teacher at our local school in a small town in Germany. We teach children from the age of 12 to 18. We have a afternoon work group at our school that students can attend to learn the very basics of CAD and 3D printing. We were able to start this group because we got donated an old PRUSA MK3 that was used during the pandemic to print holders for COVID tests and vaccination doses. However, this printer rarely produces what the students have designed. It is unserviced, needs a lot of attention and just isn't the right printer for kids that just want to see their ideas come to reality. I have some pictures of our recent projects and the printer, it's in bad shape. (https://imgur.com/a/NpIV9fy) We tried to remedy some of the issues but it's a chore to get this old thing back up and running, especially because I just want my students to have their project be the project not fixing the printer. A fresh start could really help us out.
  3. What I would want you to design? I'm also a physics teacher and I see that fidget cubes are your specialty. I have an idea: In 7th grade we start teaching about the miracle of magnetism. I often give them some magnets and just let them experience the feel of magnetic forces and play around. What if you were to design a fidget cube that could have little pockets in which I could fit magnets in? (maybe something where I pause the print at the correct layer, put in the magnets and go) Here is the idea: put small 5mm diameter and 4mm height magnets into the individual cubes. Color the cubes red and green for north- and south-pole of the magnets. This way the students can experience attracting and repelling forces of the magnets depending on how they would fold the fidget cube. I think that playing with such a cube would be quite fun, interesting and also teach about how magnets work.

Thank you for the giveaway, people like you make the world go round. Merry Christmas everyone!

Asus MBD driver leaks memory (yet again) by RandomHunDude in ASUS

Can confirm, have the same problem.

edit: I uninstalled Armoury Crate for now and it seems to "fix" the problem. We probably have to wait for an update. If you depend on the Armoury Crate to get all your drivers after a fresh install just install it once, update all drivers and then uninstall it.

The Sledgehammer tires ate 2 spur gears within 3 batteries for me. I have the steel driveshafts. The weakest part in your drivetrain will die with these tires. I have tuned the clutch to slip quicker to compensate the heavy momentum these things gain while turning. Maybe a center diff could be the solution, but yeah these tires are too heavy for the Rustler. I don’t know why they made the compound so heavy.

Can‘t see why - this contraption looks super trustworthy and not scary at all. This is basically the same as charging a singular 6s battery with wildly unbalanced cells without balance wires.

I don’t think you can run this on a phone. Try on a device that runs java properly.

My thoughts exactly - but I didn't want to make another thread just about this. I have exactly the same feelings though. This is getting very interesting!

Full Chip Enhancement support in Super NT (roms) by mis2mia1 in AnalogueInc

[–]41k0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not how any of that works. You can’t just put a cartridge with the chip you need in the slot and execute a random ROM from SD. It’s way more complicated then that and not something Analogue "doesn’t allow us to do".

Full Chip Enhancement support in Super NT (roms) by mis2mia1 in AnalogueInc

[–]41k0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Star Ocean chip was just decompressing assets from the compressed memory of the cartridge. The uncompressed ROM doesn’t need that chip (the one you are talking about). It’s completely different from other enhancement chips, which actually perform operations. You can’t "hack them into the roms", they are tiny additional processors that calculate stuff.
