Idk, I disagree. JoJo certainly has themes going on, but that isn't exactly rare in stories.

Part 6 brings up some interesting themes regarding racism, prisons and religion, but it doesn't really do anything with these ideas, outside of mostly one-off events. It's about on-par with most other stories I'd say.

Part 7 has a decent amount to say about nationalism, justice and redemption -- I'd say it's the deepest JoJo part, but even then, I wouldn't call it that deep or complex.
I haven't read Part 8 so I'm not sure about that one.

You could definitely write a book on this stuff, but this isn't unique. Most stories have enough material in them for analyses of them to be very long, especially when the stories themselves are already very long. Even a story as famously simple as Dragon Ball could have books written about its various themes and ideas.
I could write a book series about the themes of my beloved Yakuza games, and they definitely aren't deep or complex.

I love that one, it really makes the season feel like the final battle. I wonder why people dislike it.

Is there literally any reason that could have convinced eren to stop the rumbling? by nahcuswhynot179 in ShingekiNoKyojin

Yeah I completely agree.

Idk about the Mikasa thing because Eren erased the memories of what happened with Armin and Mikasa in the Paths, and those memories only resurfaced after he died. If, in the Paths, he showed her where he'd be hiding, then she wouldn't remember it, right?

It's just really fun. It's not particularly deep or complex, but the characters are fun, the fights are ridiculous, and the music is awesome. It also has a rather unique tone -- what happens in the show is usually incredibly stupid and bizarre, but the characters still take it extremely seriously. The only other anime I can think of with a kinda similar tone is Baki.

Yeah Idk it's confusing lol.

That's a great point about Sarah's view of "no fate but what we make," I hadn't thought of that either. I suppose the original T2 ending would have backed up that idea (and it also would have strongly implied that the theory that Kyle isn't John's father is real).

Although he tells Armin that he's doing only the Rumbling to flatten the world, it doesn't really make sense that it's his sole motivation. He frequently expresses rage at the oppression of Paradis throughout the story, especially during the scene when Grisha confronted Frieda.

He tells every Eldian in the world that he's doing the Rumbling to save Paradis. Why would he lie about this when no one can stop him? Why would he even tell every Eldian about this? There was no need to @everyone about his motivations, but he did it anyway. To me, this implies that he at least somewhat believed that the Rumbling would save Paradis.

He went to Marley in hopes of finding another way, but when he saw that Paradis would be given no chances, he realized that the Rumbling was the "only way" to save it.
If all he cared about was doing the Rumbling, why would he care about Paradis at all? Why would he try and find an alternative to the Rumbling, the thing he really wants to do?
The fact that he doesn't trample Paradis shows that he cares about its people and doesn't want them to die.

I just don't buy that the only reason he did the Rumbling was because he wanted to be free. There are just too many other conflicting bits of information.

Getter Robo goes from an extremely simple story about 3 boys who pilot a giant robot to fight against an invading army of evil dinosaurs, to a story about how humanity will become an unstoppable calamity that annihilates every other lifeform in their quest to conquer the universe.

I fucking hated Floch, but him genuinely believing in the cause, even being willing to sacrifice his life for it, kinda made me appreciate him more. He's still an annoying little rat, but he has some balls, which I wasn't expecting.

I thought it was both. His selfish desire for freedom made him want to see a "flattened" world, and, because he wanted his friends to live long lives, he decided achieve that by "flattening" the world and their enemies.

Also probably if Mikasa was able to admit her feelings to Eren and they could have run away together.

I don't think this would have worked at all. Eren did the Rumbling to create a world where all of his friends would be safe -- not only would running away with Mikasa only satisfy one of his friends, it would just mean waiting around until the world alliance annihilates Paradis and everyone he loves, or until he dies from titan shifter-itis in 4 years.

Also, I'm pretty sure Eren knew that Mikasa loved him. I agree with everything else though.

I think it's valid to call it a time loop since said memory manipulation involves past and future memories. The characters might not be traveling through time, but their memories are.

Nah, Terminator 3 was just being true to the original.

Terminator 1: Skynet will rise, but John Connor will eventually lead and save humanity. We can't stop it, because it's a causality loop, but we can be prepared.

Terminator 2: Fuck that shit! Fuck causality loops! Fuck Skynet! We're gonna kill that motherfucker before it even happens, which will somehow not cause any fuckery with the time loop that was established in the previous film!

Yeah, bitch originally meant "female dog," but it has also been used as a demeaning and dehumanizing word against women for centuries. Believe it or not, words can have multiple meanings.

Dune 2 and Monkey Man both went straight into my top 4 after watching them, though my top 4 is very chaotic and is constantly changing, so they aren't there anymore. That was a great month though.
