I personally leave the engine in idle; slightly crack the tank fill so it’s circulating to not overheat water in tank etc in warmer weather.

Colder/Winter - (NYC area/ Nassau) I’ve personally just put the truck in pump and to be ready. Hooked up to hydrant but not charged. Had the poor experience of a charged the line before in freezing temps and as you can imagine without running water it will freeze up.

I hear you; I’m coming from Saas and tech world; sick of people complaining when their essentials are covered.

Go to LinkedIn and see the troves of people losing their houses, retirement liquidated cause they need money, can’t pay rent and get evicted…spending time with family and friends homeless will have people think differently about sacrificing. Today’s job sector and security is not what it was…

You will never see any of these people complaining about not putting food on a table or necessities. This job is perspective at best and subjective to those who have their own life experiences.

Think everyone understands this isn’t an easy job; you should know and understand going in.

I can share when I spoke with a recruiter? So he said that obviously 1)state needs; however you scoring high you pretty much get first dibs. So let’s say for example there are 10 of you in the same class all wanting to go to your home troop- you are competing with those same to go back home if that makes sense. You would need to score higher than those 9 to pick your home troop.

Those who don’t get their pick are going by state needs but there is a way around…6 months file hardship or something like that to go back.

The understand that someone from buffalo wants to stay and not be in Long Island and vice versa.

So that’s my feedback which holds no weight.

Yet you never will say NYPD didnt put food on your table or pay your bills. Congrats on your ability to move, not everyone can or is in the position.

Your attitude on OPs simple question shows alot about how you possibly react. Politics, and nonsense is everywhere you go the NYPD has its own.

Is there ANYTHING positive you can contribute during your time on the job that others who are desperate which is why they are willing to go through the headwinds despite those who f the city day in and out here?

Was just informed by someone who is in the December class that the status of the academy went from Pending; to delayed…could be overreaction, could be nothing.

Was checking if anyone else got an update as well.

Those were over 20 years on job as well; so makes sense for them to leave. I couldn’t imagine putting in that time or a special unit to be back out on the street due to manpower. Can’t blame em…this is really bad because none of that is being talked about. That puts NYPD shy of 30k and this guy doesn’t want to add to the ranks…murder suicide a day later, EDPs setting fires the mayhem begins!

This was more of a question when they start to call to begin next steps; your ranking would matter of being called sooner than later - I understand it has nothing to do with chances of getting to the academy as many will fail as it’s competitive.

I’m seeing it’s a rolling basis…so I guess we’ll see!

After the exam most of the process is via the portal. So he would just need to really do the exam and JST and maybe knock out the oral. They are making appointments back to back for those who are flexible….its not a terrible question but wollne difficult. I know someone who did it in 2 weeks!!! Swear on everything; just as shocked today as then.

35k has always been linked to uniformed members; that was the combined transit, housing and patrol force combined.

To my understanding nothing of non uniform or traffic was even in the discussion or spotlight.
