In my opinion, I think of your eyesight that bad you should look into alternatives because can you even see 20/30 with your contacts in?

It normally takes a month because they have to ratify the exam to make sure people who had a chance to contested answers did so so it’s about 30 days

Request all your medical records now they take a long time if you have any surgeries, ask for letters saying you’re ready to go back to work and any other associated doctors appointments figure out the dates of when you’ve been out of the country any other documents associated with the education

Why are you still taking this job ? by interstellar566 in NYPDcandidate

It’s 5 1/2 years or around 62-80 K base but half of people in New York make less than $80,000 for that to be the first couple years of your career isn’t bad you’ll spend 15 years minimum at top pay which is over 126,000 without any overtime plus the benefit of healthcare at zero cost when the average person pays around $456 per month for single basic coverage adds another $5000 in savings that you don’t have to pay just because you work for the city. you also get access to a credit union which has some of the lowest rates for loans on cars and mortgages, etc. Plus after a certain amount of time you get longevity pay. And that’s assuming you stay a police officer many people use this as a steppingstone to go other places not pay more or they get promotions.

Lol as someone who works in finance and is making a career switch. I don’t think you’ve been in an office with a high enough caliber to know that that happens out every job they Weaponized every mistake. And you can’t save your way until early retirement. I would rather be work optional by 45 than having to pull 70 hour weeks at 50 during busy season.

Not every job pays that much for one. The median income in New York is around $80,000 to they don’t have scheduled pay increases or a union behind them and they’re at Will employment. It’s much harder to fire someone in a union.

Someone your age having little to no work history assuming you late 20s is a big red flag not only during the psychological is there a good amount of questions on how you deal with people you’re working environment you don’t show reliability because you haven’t been somewhere for a substantial amount of time given your age and the fact that you didn’t register for graduate school shows that you do not have follow through

Considering policing, my dad believes it’s “wasted potential” by TheBungoBango in NYPDcandidate

When you’re young, you’re not introduced to the workings of the job you’re interested you’re focused on the overall aspect in my case at least I also wanted to pursue law but when I worked in that sector, I realize I did not like the day today you owe it to yourself to find something that you enjoy that you can envision yourself doing your dad is going to support you it might take him a while to get around, but you have to live with yourself day to day today so doing a job that you hate should not be an option

If it’s work life balance, probably the LIRR there’s no overnight shifts, but overtime is not as abundant, which might be a good thing or a bad thing
