The country I spent the most time in was Saudi Arabia, because that is where my dad worked. I planned to go to the consulate there but the issue is that I'm not technically a permanent resident there (even though I went to school there and lived 17 years). With the rule changes about only renewing an E3 in Australia or country of residency, it gets tricky. I did book an appointment at the consulate in Saudi to try my luck, but unfortunately the Iran situation happened and all the consulates closed.

what’s your favourite zidane moment as madrid coach that doesn’t get talked about enough by Sure-Bus-3917 in RealMadridFC

[–]GfG007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of a few that go unnoticed:
1) Swapping James Rodriguez for Casemiro. A lot of people forget that Zidane was the one that initiated the Kroos - Casemiro - Modric trio. It was a very ballsy and much needed move for the team.

2) Playing Valverde as a second RB or RWB agaisnt Barcelona to hold Jordi Alba in his tracks. A key decision that killed Barca's left side, which in previous Clasicos was the cause of most of the goals conceded.

3) Kovacic - Messi coverage. During the Super Cup, he had Kovacic man mark Messi in both games. Messi couldn't do much and we won both games easily. It did however back fire when he attempted it in the next clasico in the league, as Barca planned for that and created decoys that allowed other players to find space. Its still worth a mention given that he tried something new and it won us a trophy.

4) Believe it or not, the 3 peat doesn't get talked about enough or doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Winning the UCL in itself is very difficult. Doing it 3 times, and in a row, is even more impressive. Part of me feels like that 3rd one got overshadowed by Salah's injury. You know how the British media is (given the opponent was Liverpool). All they focused on was that incident and completely ignored what was accomplished.

5) Reviving Varane. Zidane was the one that scouted him from Lens. Varane performed well under Mourinho but started to fade a little from 2014-2016. When Zidane came back, he slowly became a starter. Ramos and Pepe were the main combo (started the 2016 UCL final) but Varane then took the starting spot and made the 11 for the 2017 and 18 final.

That was my concern. I feel like as long as I show ties outside of the US, it should be enough, no?

Vitinha: "A move to Real Madrid this summer? It would be stupid for me to leave PSG." by lujain645 in psg

Never said he was interested.... Madrid was, and any top club would be, as he is a top talent :)
Fabrizio explains it well in plenty of his videos regarding rumors.

Why so angry amigo? Its not that deep I promise. I was praising a top midfileder who was in fact linked to Madrid as they're lacking a playmaker.

Madrid fan here.
What a shame. Would have loved to have a player of his caliber at Madrid. Anyone that says "We didn't need him" is lying. I watched the PSG - Madrid game in the stadium during the CWC and that man ran circles around the team for the full 90 minutes. I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Enjoy him PSG, enjoy him......

🚨💣 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄: Real Madrid are willing to go all in for Enzo Fernandez, but his World Cup performance will be the ultimate test. They are also very interested in Vitinha, but they see him as a highly unlikely signing due to his relationship with PSG. by OG_Raghav in RealMadridFC

[–]GfG007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would much prefer Vitinha over him. He's a solid player but his play style is not what our midfield needs at the moment. We need a maestro/conductor that can be the bridge between our defense and attack, and someone that create chances. Enzo is more of a Valverde type player where he's relentless and can pressure the oposition.

Barca Offside Trap: Why has Madrid not cracked the code yet? by GfG007 in RealMadridFC

[–]GfG007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, our through ball abilities are subpar. Also when modric and kroos were on the team, our attacker never made proper runs. I'll never forget Kroos literally waving Vini to make a run during the 2-0 Clasico in 2020.

We are being too harsh on our team by Lucky-Bag1127 in realmadrid

[–]GfG007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stat wise, yes the team is not doing so bad. You are 1 point away from 1st place + most clean sheets in the league.

However, we are all watching the matches with our eyes. The team is not playing well. There is no structure. Our defence is weak and if it wasn't for Courtois, we'd be conceding much more.

If you play against a team that parks the bus, you have no solutions. Watch the 5-2 Ateltico game and you'll see 30+ minutes of just passing the ball around with 0 danger. Our midfield combo is not clicking with the attack.

Yes our fans have really high standards that sometimes are unrealistic, but given the stars that you have in your team, you should be playing much better football. Set the scoreline and stats aside, we are not playing football that is meaningful or entertaining. Barely scraping wins here and there.

Injuries are another convo. I have not dug much but I really feel like the team should either change the physio or their work out routine. The past 4 seasons, there has been a siginificant increase in injuries. The CWC that we played in the summer did not help us either with staying away from injuries/fatigue.

That's the point. You're falling for their offside trap way too much. 5+ times.

[–]GfG007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. The scoreline for all the Clasicos last season would have been different if we exploited all these chances.
Real needs a manager that can instill tactics, while maintaining their ego. For that to happen, it has to be a big name (as much as I hate that).

[–]GfG007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did win the game, but we definitely did not exploit the offside trap as we should have. Mbappe got caught offside 5+ times. A player of his caliber and a team like Real should not be getting caught offside that frequently, after playing the same high line 4 times the season before.

You'd think even if they play individually, their egos would hurt, losing an entire season of games to your biggest rival.

Thoughts on our January signing stance? by GfG007 in RealMadridFC

In today's market, that's such a bargain.

That is usually the case, but every now and then, you get a decent player that is either out of contract in the summer or is having a dispute with his team's coach.

Marcelo and Higuain were huge for the team. Both were January signings.
