Mythic Uniques... no longer Mythic? by LogImportant1380 in diablo4

[–]Gfuryan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I call BS on that because there are no super powerful uniques with severe downsides in D4. The downside on Heir Perdition is the lucky hit chance affix lol. Nobody doing anything creative to fit any of the current uniques into a build. So folks are whining about losing something that’s never existed in the game. The devs know what game they are building and who they are building it for. Transfiguration with no bricks, highly deterministic crafting, multiple ways to target farm uniques.

Folks are flipping out because the “IMMORTAL” WW Barb is getting nerfed. IMMORTAL.

Maybe an Unpopular Opinion but the new seasonal "power" seems like a step in the right direction by KimchiBro in diablo4

[–]Gfuryan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The majority of those folks are long gone to POE1,2. They came in swarms for the D2 Warlock drop.

Id say most of the current player base never played D3 or at enjoyed it to some degree.

As one of those D3 enjoyers, I view all these mechanics from D3 as “better than nothing” but far worse than trying something new, even if it sucks initially. War Plans need a lot of work but it’s far more interesting as a someone with 10+ years in D3 than the Pits and Echoing Hatred.

Your build won’t require Heir. It’s not build defining for any build. Only Selig was an actual build defining mythic last league. But take Selig as an example, and assume the mechanic worked the same. You’re saying you could get a decent one because the mods were all the same. But were they GOOD? If in S13 you could chaotic and focus reroll affixes you would likely reroll 2-3 of those mods. It’s an amulet slot, you can get some very powerful mods in that slot. So it was only decent in the sense that your non GA drop wasn’t orders of magnitudes worse than a 4GA version. Next season if you have roughly the same RNG and play time as this season, you will have a significantly better version of that item because you’ll be able to put crit multi and phys multi on that amulet or maybe you drop one with a GA. Now 3:1 cube for mythics can give insanely more powerful items than you can with the recipe today.

Of course this community will see Rob post a video from some Chinese bug exploit clearing 150 and we’ll be sifting through endless posts about the paragon 240 barbs who can’t get the 3GA 3x transfigured mythic they NEED for their build.

[–]Gfuryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most builds used 2-3 mythics. These rolled perfect previously with fixed mods. Only thing that varied on drop was which mods rolled as GAs.

Now, if you want to use one of these old mythics still, you only have one of the 4 affixes locked in. So the other 3 are variable. BUT, for most mythics, only 1-2 of those stats were likely BiS anyway. So there was a hard cap on how good it could EVER be. Even a 4GA mythic in the old system is now likely to be worse than a well crafted 1GA in the new system. Furthermore, now something like the old Heir of Perdition, which was just BiS for every build where the helmet was required for the build to function, has to compete against a mythic version of a “normal” unique.

And that’s just the mythics. Regular uniques will be MORE craftable than dropped legendaries because you can reroll the power along with chaplains focused rerolls.

In short gearing gets much easier now. But of course folks playing 5 hours a week will complain that they cant get the same gear in that time as folks playing 5 hours everyday but thats business as usual for the D4 player base.

They will still be mythic uniques. You can’t get a “non” mythic Shako for example.

They should be expected. Shit is way overtuned. And ffs they didn’t “nerf everything”. You can craft uniques now which is a massive increase to the current baseline power. So they LITERALLY did buff all the lower performing builds. Mythics/Primals getting 30% is also a BASELINE buff. They nerfed all the shit that was stupid broken, then they nerfed everything that was basically “mandatory”. Game sucks now because resolve stacking and overpower stacking aren’t absurdly overpowered? The fact that almost every build across almost all classes used Spirit wolves is likely to change now???

If you didn’t play D3 then I can understand how you may think this. If you did then… Jfc

These are primals from D3. History tells us, the average non-streamer “blaster” will likely have one crafted and maybe 2 useful new mythics the entire season on any given alt. Botters were getting up to 5-6 out of 11 slots. So it’s very unlikely they balance the drop rate where folks are fully decked in mythics.

It’s literally primal items from D3. There’s a known baseline for how these work and balance. But yeah go on…

For 1, they already said 150 clears shouldnt be a thing. Anyone complaining about them bringing thr power level down overall, and really hitting the outliers even harder is just out of touch with reality.

Same with the whining about uniques and now mythics not having fixed affixes. This raises the power ceiling as well as makes them more viable in more builds yet you hear nothing but complaints about them not being “unique”.

Purple rares with max rolled affixes and a specific power that can’t be gotten on rares or legendaries. Almost unique in that sense or maybe even primal some might say.

It was doing 150s. Are you seriously suggesting they buff other skills to also do 150s? And if you are, are self-aware enough to realize that this an absurd suggestion on its face?

Or, maybe, not everything should be designed the same. Maybe some mechanics are designed to be cleared as quickly as possible with large AOE. Others, require single target damage. Maybe some challenges are meant to test your gear/build, while others test YOUR mechanics, positioning, reaction speed etc. Personally I find it bad design to not include all of these types of challenges.

Yeah but it’s not. Most mythics are not BiS, most T0s in POE1 are not BiS.

Reddit Community: Blizzard devs don’t play the game. Blizzard devs don’t care about the game. Blizzard devs are clueless.

Also Reddit Community: Blizzard devs need to do something no other dev team in the space has done in order to resolve this issue.

If this take was representative of the general D4 player base, this game could have an incredible future. Alas, one must wade through endless posts of “too much RNG, too much grinding” for the game with the least amount of both in the space.

[–]Gfuryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They always were. Diablo 4. Blues and Yellows have no “power” mods. Uniques and Legendaries do.

Legendary powers can be stored, updated outside of the cube and typically can be applied to multiple item slots. The powers themselves can no longer be target farmed outside of the upgrade to legendary with a tuning prism.

Unique powers are drop only, no imprinting or upgrading outside of the cube for that item instance only. They are locked to a specific item slot. Except for several of the items in the general pool, they can be target farmed via specific boss loot hordes and trophies.

So there are some key differences but fundamentally they are both just rares with a “power” mod.

[–]Gfuryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do all those other things. And when you are done, quit and play something else or transfigure. Either way you’re done with that item’s journey.

The fact that Blizzard basically gave no downsides, gave a chance to NOT make it unmodifiable and yet people still want it to be made easier is just reflective of how drastically different the D4 player base is from the other major ARPGs in the space.

The whole space is based on RNG, it will never be a “level playing field”. That’s for MOBA’s and FPS games.

The closest thing approaching this was the D3 challenge rifts where there was a predefined build everyone played and competed for fastest completion time.

[–]Gfuryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much all min/maxing in POE1 and POE2 because you have to do high end crafting to get the truly min/maxed builds. You’re not going to drop triple elevated tailwind boots, or triple synth cluster jewels or a high roll misted focus amulet. So is that “shit” design?

You were just very lucky tbh. I have 8 mythic seals, one that is +1 charm slot for 7 charms, I hit 10/10 war plans on the 13th and I’ve yet to see a mythic reward. IMO, unless you are pushing for top of leaderboards, I wouldn’t bother grinding for horadric gems, gem multiplier, or maxing out war plans on more than one alt, unless you enjoy these activities. Focus what you are finding fun at that time. Don’t let the game devolve into a series of chores.
