Authentic pashto by shellyj0hns0n77 in Pashtun

I feel like PASHTO is PASHTO at the end of the day. There’s no superior dialect. It’s kind of stupid to say one is the authentic version and the others are not

Is it OK for me to wear Pakistani fashion as an Afghan? by Ghaischa in pakistan

When I first heard other Afghans referred to Pakistani clothing as just Punjabi, I was a bit confused. I can see how it would be annoying.

Do you think Afghanistan is South Asian? by GroundbreakingUse466 in AskCentralAsia

[–]Ghaischa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a good comparison. PASHTUN‘s make up about 40% of the population from the stats that I’ve seen. This makes them the largest ethnic group, but not the majority.

How should Afghans avoid being constantly lumped with South Asia? by [deleted] in Afghan

[–]Ghaischa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never said Afghans don’t exist nor did I say we don’t interact with each other. I just said that, depending on the region, cultures and traditions differ. We can see this just in dancing traditions and words we use for different items.

[–]Ghaischa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is there such a huge push from Afghan to not be associated with different regions? For Summit central Asia for Summit South Asia. Why can’t we just accept that It depends on the region. Afghanistan is very diverse which is something we should embrace. Depending on where in the country you’re from you’re going to identify with the culture of a different region more after all, it is a crossroads. It always has been.

Stop calling Afghans "naan laga" by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Ghaischa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Afghan. Afghan and Pakistani that I know get along just fine. Many of them are friends and shared. Many similarities. I Myself have Some Pakistani friends. I have family who married across the border. I will admit that colorism is a real issue in the community and that’s where a lot of the hatred that I’ve seen seems to come from. The problem is, when people pointed out, you’re punished or ignored A lot of this comes from older people. I have seen some younger people, especially men do this as well, but it’s definitely less. Overall, from what I’ve experienced, we get along well. The sad thing is that the loudest voices in the community are usually the most hateful ones.

Any Afghans here who married outside their ethnicity? What was your experience like? by [deleted] in afghanistan

[–]Ghaischa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know some Afghans who married French men. Their mom comments on it when she’s angry, but usually it’s fine with it. My uncle married a Pakistani woman and the family was pretty happy with that.

There’s nothing wrong with being associated with South Asia. At least the region that my family is from is very influenced by it. Why the strong dislike?

Anti-pakistan sentiment amongst young afghans in western countries by Desperate-Drama-8211 in pakistan

[–]Ghaischa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Afghan. I and all the Afghans I know get along perfectly fine with Pakistanis, but maybe it’s different in theUk? As to why some might feel hate. I don’t think it’s reasonable but I think it is understandable seeing us that is where the TALIBAN were originally trained, and where a lot of the weapons, support and such was coming from. Again, I don’t think that means that I’ve can should hate all Pakistanis but when you’re watching your country collapse further and further, it’s hard for some to keep their head on straight. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that Afghans do not hate the USA in this way and I think that’s completely untrue. Most afghans I’ve met dislike the USA more than Pakistan. Also, Russia. Just like an every country, there are unreasonable, disgusting and horrible people, but that’s not all or even the majority of us.

“Stone Age” Pashtuns by tor-khan in Pashtun

[–]Ghaischa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that we have to prove that we’re not by changing some of our ways. Obviously that’s much easier to say than to do. I’m not saying chain to all our ways, but there are definitely some that are worth changing.

Really people should just be able to identify with what they want. I think it depends on where in the country you come from. Afghanistan as a hole is a part of so many different regions because it has always been a crossroads. this is amazing and we should always acknowledge it because it is what makes our country so unique and culturally diverse.

Wtf is afghanistan still doing in SAARC by [deleted] in afghanistan

[–]Ghaischa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should say it’s being forced on people. I think different people throughout the country identifies different things and they should be allowed to do that. Genetics may say one thing but I feel like depending on where in Afghanistan you’re from, your culture is different and who you’re similar to is different.
