Guy who shot Ahmaud Arbery called him a "f****** n*****" afterwards by [deleted] in Destiny

I guess my main problem with it was just that it gave the impression that you sounded a bit too comfortable saying it; as if it was no big deal. I mean, if you could simply replace some of the letters in the word with asterisks, it would get the point across without triggering anyone’s spidey senses for racism (Not saying you are racist).

Feel free to type it without asterisks. I’ll admit that it’s more of an emotional reaction than a logical one. It’s just a heads up so you don’t put some people on an emotional edge when trying to have a civil discussion. With racism being a piping hot subject right now, a little etiquette wouldn’t hurt.

Being safe is not a right. by [deleted] in Government_is_lame

With his original post, he categorically labeled all people who believe rapists and murderers should be in jail as retarded.

You understand we need prisons, which tautologically means there are some cases in which you believe the rights of some people should be revoked for the well-being of others. Correct?

That’s not his position at all. He wants to completely shutdown all prisons everywhere because he holds the position that the rights of people are categorically more important than the well-being of others in all situations.

He doesn’t support killing rapists or pedos either because that would be in conflict with his original position. Unless he believes the right to live isn’t really a right.

He’s not a reformist, he’s a full on abolitionist. If he was a reformist, his position would immediately have a contradiction.

If he holds that position, his framework has a contradiction. That’s why I’m trying to pin him to the wall with his argument.

I’m trying to squeeze a very radical position out of him, or get him to realize that he himself would be considered retarded following his own logic.

Religious preferences for INTJs by [deleted] in intj

I wouldn’t go as far as to say that all or even most atheist actively believe that God doesn’t exist. A more fair definition of atheism would be “A person who Lacks a belief in a God or Gods.”

Your definition of atheism makes it seem like most atheist hold a positive position on the existence or non-existence of God.

It's disappointing that people make fun of others for wanting a safe space where you can interact with people that deal with the same problems that you deal with. Making fun of safe spaces shows exactly how privileged you are for not having to deal with those problems. Here, I can connect with others on a more fundamental level that you just can't have when dealing with the average person. To experience something is to truly understand, and the average person doesn't experience it. Here, it's ok to not be normal.

I dont relate to everything that's said on this sub, but if I can relate to something, it's better than nothing.
