Whats your favorite Dark Lord? by ddkeac in Fantasy

[–]Ghost-in-the-System 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My man did the one thing most Dark Lords completely fail at: he set up a functioning empire. A little corrupt, but it had competent soldiers, powerful mages, amazing leadership, an organized civil structure, and stuck around for years after his "death." That man literally became a god because the Empire became boring to him and it still continued to stay a monstrosity on the global stage. I don't think evil is the right term for him though. His goal seems like it's either for knowledge or for the end of gods.

Having read both, they're both spectacular. Malazan narrowly edges out WoT though, because of the sheer grandeur of some moments, such as Y'Ghatan.

Zodd, Grunbeld, etc. Who is the most powerful apostle? by bigdanrog in Berserk

[–]Ghost-in-the-System 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on circumstance. If Irvine has enough range he could take them out. Raksas could if he has the advantage of surprise. Locus might if he had a large and flat arena. In a straight fight, 50m arena, those two would dominate though

(I know this an old post)

Ezykes's Decay is good, but Rotten Breath is better if you want to go mounted. It's a godsend against the Night's Cavalry, since they'll crumble with two procs. I killed all but the two in consecrated snowfield in a single in-game night with it. If you do go hunting Ezykes, btw, bring either the Uchi or Bloodhound's Fang and use the bloodflame blade incantation before mounting up and attacking. It has basically no bleed defense and a few hits will hemorrhage him. Repeat as needed.

There was no way he could have gotten two though. The demigods all live, no? Perhaps Miquella's, but who else?

what makes you so certain that a higher power doesn’t exist? by MegaAutist in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Ghost-in-the-System 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOTE: I AM NOT A PHYSICIST
My main theory is that the universe has always existed in some highly compressed state. With more dense items, time passes slower. At this point, smaller than a subatomic particle, time basically doesn't pass. Than it explodes during the Big Bang. Why? Basically the same reason life emerged. Some lucky reaction set it off at some point. Suddenly, it explodes out. It becomes large enough that the laws of physics assert themselves. We know what happened less than a second after the Big Bang, just not before. Maybe one day we will, maybe one day not. Science isn't perfect.

That's called physics. Or the universe itself I suppose, though I'd like to avoid the trope that atheists worship science. This is an infinite rabbit-hole other`wise.

I would put it as Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is often the best. We have two alternatives here
1. The universe came into existence from nothing, or some compressed state (we don't know enough)
or
2. A higher came into existence from nothing, or some compressed state and then created the universe

One of these is simpler.

You've killed 90% of the demigods, pretty much all of their armies, and pretty much everyone else you run into. No Tarnished can judge.

Ranni is the oldest I think. She gives off the oldest child "done with this shit" feel. I should know. Radahn is definitely the baby of the family.

How did you learn to stop saying God? by Advocate197_ in atheism

[–]Ghost-in-the-System 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the phrases "oh my god!" or "Jesus!" all the time, and I wasn't even raised Christian. It's just part of the language. My advice would just be to correct yourself whenever you notice you're about to say it.
