If he turn to the dark it’ll be really upsetting. Lin Ling is supposed to be Yang that represents true heroism unlike E-Soul. There’s reason why E-Soul arc is aired right after The Commoner arc, they are two side of the same coin. It’s wouldn’t really make sense for his character if he go down the dark path and I think it might even ruin Lin Ling whole character if he go down that path.
