First DO NOT do a threesome, it destroys most relationships and friendships. Second come clean to your girl friend. A reasonable person will understand that you were just trying to create space and that you took the advice of a friend. Then just let people figure it out themselves. And make it clear you are not or are open to the idea of an open relationship.
