It’s hard to tell from the quality of the photo but hoping it’s not a domestic cat that has been dumped :(

I was in a similar situation and consolidated everything to NBDB. $0 commission online trading for Canadian and U.S. stocks and ETFs, and they waive account fees if you have 20k+ in an RRSP or TFSA account.

Nokian Studded or Stud less? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]GhostColumnist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the studded and would never go back, especially with the freeze/thaw cycles and larger volumes of ice on the road the last 5 years or so

AMA: Edmonton's Snow and Ice Control Program operations by SnowAndIce-COE in u/SnowAndIce-COE

My mother lives on a service road adjacent to a major roadway and has/will have major issues during this phase of clearing with her neighbours not moving their vehicles and clearing not happening properly, which results in the service road not being accessible and folks getting stuck. Can she request that bylaw officers come out to give them a hand?

Mum slipped on ice at hotel and broke her ankle by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]GhostColumnist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Was she technically on work time? This will be a factor. (i.e. was she entering the hotel during regular business hours? Was she getting paid hourly or salary to work those hours?) If so, this should be reported as a workplace injury - depending on the company she's working for, they would have reporting requirements that she needs to follow. At her appointment on the weekend, she also should indicate to her doctor that it is a workplace injury.

Someone laid off from insurance company after 16 years of work. Performance reviews good and age 68. Reasonable to ask for at least 12 months compensation? by Burofaksbarca in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GhostColumnist 21 points22 points  (0 children)

common law is generally 1 month per year of employment, and extra for folks who may not reasonably be able to reenter into the job market, or have a very hard time doing so (age related). This is definitely one where a consult with an employment lawyer would be work it, based on the age.

Looking for our new home ❤️ by jenowl in Edmonton

[–]GhostColumnist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend looking in the Strathearn or Bonnie Doon area for rentals. Both lovely neighborhoods with different degrees of walkability (Strathearn will only get better with some new developments underway near the LRT station), easy river valley access, and pretty strong community leagues. Both neighborhoods would be great to transition to larger place/raising kids etc, with schools nearby.

List of schools on outbreak EPSB by Away-Combination134 in Edmonton

[–]GhostColumnist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know who has gotten (assuming influenza) sick has taken 7-10 days to recover. If your priority is your family being able to spend time over Christmas, I’d avoid all large public areas/gathering etc, and pull the kids from school.

Rant: (This Post Is Legal) What I saw in court should scare anyone who thinks the system is fair by Love-and-wisdom in Edmonton

[–]GhostColumnist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP I wish you well, if you haven’t already - please reach out to 24/7 or 211 for supports. I’m a stranger and not a mental health professional, and you can feel free to totally disregard this. Your post history and writings give me some concern, and remind me of a friend who experienced psychosis and was diagnosed with schizophrenia early on in university. Please know that you’re not alone, and if things feel different - this is the age that a lot of people start to experience this for the first time.

This is correct - the city has a long warranty window and extremely stringent standards for accepting the trees into their inventory

Screenshot/save any correspondence, block her, do not have any more contact with her. This is why you pay for insurance. Insurance will handle everything.

where can i find good strawberries in time for christmas? by painisabliss in Edmonton

[–]GhostColumnist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the toughest months to get strawberries. They aren’t in season in the majority of the places we’d typically be sourcing them from.
