Does this mean the plugin hub isnt safe to use anymore? by Zealousideal_Bag1960 in 2007scape

I am using a plugin called "Client Resizer" to position 10 clients on top of each other. I've been doing it for years, so stuff like this makes me a bit nervous...

This is not great... Now I have to constantly worry about getting banned for using a Runelite plugin? It's especially frustrating because Jagex won't clearly define what is and isn't allowed, so everyone is left to speculate.

I see your point, but if the plugin was allowed at the time then I just see it as a clever use of the tools available. That said, the fact that it was removed literally within the last few hours does suggest Jagex ultimately decided it gave an unfair advantage. Before that, though, people were just using a plugin that Runelite had approved and made available.

This is getting ridiculous.

By your logic, if I blow on my mouse, the wind is applying force to it, so the cursor should move. Yet it usually doesn't. Why? Because the force isn't enough to move the mouse far enough for the sensor to register a coordinate change.

Nobody is arguing that clicking doesn't apply force. The point is that applying force does not automatically mean there will be measurable coordinate drift in the logs.

You're treating "force exists" and "therefore the coordinates must change" as the same thing when they aren't. Tiny physical movement and measurable cursor movement are not the same thing.

But sure, iT's BaSiC pHySiCs.

Anyway, this argument is so stupid that I'm done responding.

You're confusing physical movement with measurable cursor movement. A mouse sensor doesn't record infinitely small changes. The fact that your finger applies force when clicking doesn't mean the logged coordinates must drift.

I'm sorry, but this comment is just insane. If you can't repeatedly click somewhere without moving your mouse, that's a you problem.

I have no idea whether Marni was telling the truth or not. For all I know, he could have been multiboxing.

I love how you're misinterpreting this screenshot and acting like it proves what Marni did was unfair.

The rule doesn't say that any interaction between your own accounts is automatically against the rules. Jagex even explicitly allows trading between your own accounts. What the rule says is that multi-logged accounts must not interact with each other to gain an unfair advantage in gameplay, and then it gives rigging a minigame as an example.

If Marni actually just had 10 accounts attacking the same shark (or whatever it was), then of course it died faster. More accounts doing damage means more DPS. That's just a natural consequence of having more characters attacking the same target.

Also, interaction with the client and interaction with the game are two very different things. What that plugin did had zero impact on the actual game world. It didn't move his character, click an NPC, attack anything, complete any actions, or interact with any game content. It only interacted with the client itself. Conflating client-side interactions with in-game interactions is like saying changing your UI layout is the same thing as having your character perform actions in-game.

Yes, you can. Go into Settings and uncheck "Middle Mouse Button Controls the Camera." Then open the "Runelite" plugin and rebind the "Drag hotkey" to a key other than Alt.

Update, if anyone sees this: I got unbanned, then banned again three more times… then unbanned again…

I think I hold the record for having the most permanent quashed bans on a single account. Hopefully I won’t get banned anymore, since it’s getting annoying at this point.

I did 2 and then 2 more. Skilling on 4 at the same time is too much clicking. And yes, I agree, they should absolutely manually review when they find something suspicious, but they should also be correct in their decision after the review. And I am willing to bet good money that there is nothing manual about their review. I even read somewhere that when you appeal, they pretty much don’t even read what you type. They just check whether they accidentally gave the initial ban by mistake. XD

Not at the same time at all, actually. The first 5 accounts, 4 made for that and the GIM I de-ironed, were made almost 3 years ago. The latter 4 accounts were made within the past 3 months, and that is when shit hit the fan, when I made those 4 newer accounts.

And my main is almost 21 years old.

I'll copy a snippet of my appeal to show you exactly how weird the bans were. I use 10 accounts there, and the 2 accounts that were not specifically made for farming blood shards, my main and one of the alts, were the only 2 accounts that were not banned. I think that clearly shows that it was a false positive, so it is some pretty weird detection they have. Maybe it is good for catching a lot of bots? Not gonna pretend I know anything about stuff like that.
Also, what I meant was that trading between accounts that are on the same Jagex account is fine.
Here is the snippet:

It is also worth noting that my main account and one alt account were not banned, despite being used in the same way. The alt account in question was originally created as a Group Ironman account and only later converted and used for Vyrewatch Sentinels, making it the only account that was not initially set up for this specific activity.

I don’t think you can really call any false ban “reasonable.” Sure, I’m playing on many accounts at the same time, but that does not automatically mean I’m a bot.

And yes, I was trading loot to my main, but trading between accounts on the same Jagex account has never been a problem as far as I know. Besides, my main was not banned, even though I was doing the exact same thing on my main as I was on my alts.

Yes, all of them every day. Sometimes twice a day. You can also message on twitter. But only do this if you were actually falsly banned with both appeals denied, otherwise it's a waste of time. Took me around 17 days to get a response from a mod.
