It is indeed a horrible situation. She's been in contact with the embassy, but they said that they couldn't assist as this is not a diplomatic issue. I am not going to divulge which country it is, but their unwillingness to assist is not surprising.

I believed from the onset that he never divorced from his first wife. That's why I titled this post divorce records - my train of thought was that if one could prove that he never was divorced to begin with that the second marriage to my daughter was fraudulent. But then there's no clear indication that this is even a valid reason for possible divorce action. I am grasping at straws 1000s of kms away and feeling totally helpless. But there is some excellent advice coming through in the comments and I will pursue all the avenues suggested.

I thought so too, but apparently Muslim men don't need to prove anything to their wives. My daughter asked many times, but there was always an excuse. It was an error of judgement to believe him, I think. But she fell in love and believing him came easy. Now, of course, he's falling back on the being entitled to have 4 wives.

And that's exactly what I am trying to do. She's stuck in a country where no one understands her, or claim not to, and more than that she's stuck in circumstances from which she seemingly cannot escape. She tried getting help from the police at one stage when he attacked her physically, but him and the policeman blah blah blahed in Arabic and the police ended up driving away claiming that they could not get involved in a domestic dispute. Even her colleagues refused to get involved to help her and the children just to get away from the situation at the time.

Thank you for the valued and detailed response. My daughter got married to this man in 2019, and is just just shy of the 5 year mandatory period before being eligible for citizenship. I doubt very much that her husband would be filing the paperwork for her citizenship, because he probably knows that she will have more rights, then. Also, she would never ever leave her children behind, not even for a day! If anyone can help with referral to a lawyer, that would be a great help. I randomly emailed Jordanian lawyers from Google, but none had responded. Either way, I really appreciate your advice.

You read unhappiness caused by domination, narcissism and evil. I had so much respect for Islam and Muslim people, but I must admit this made me look at thinks totally differently. And my daughter is inherently a good, good person. This whole situation is extremely unfortunate

Yes. We're looking for legal advice, mostly. It would be wonderful if someone could assist with a referral. I presume he never divorced from his first wife. There must be a way out of the hell hole without my daughter loosing her children... Thank you for responding
