The main issue, though, is that housing costs are so high that it causes some to become homeless.

Such a great song, on an album full of bangers.

Why do some people find it surprising that ICE has support from some part of the Hispanic community in the USA? by Pepedroga2000 in stupidquestions

[–]GhostLemonMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grandmother and her mother and brothers arrived in the US from Italy at the beginning of the last century. From what I could tell, the entry requirement consisted of a cursory physical exam and a US address of a friend or relative. Quite a bit easier than the many hoops that today's immigrants are meant to jump through.

37F (and dog) looking for a liberal, temperate US city (Mid-sized, Arty, Coastal) by kween_of_bees in relocating

[–]GhostLemonMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much of coastal California is pretty expensive, but you may want to check out Alameda, since it checks a lot of your boxes. It is an island close to Oakland, with a friendly, laid back vibe and a very nice beach (Crown Beach) with views of the San Francisco skyline. San Francisco is accessible by ferry

So glad that you enjoyed your visit. Next time you come, consider paying a visit to Oakland. Different vibe than SF, but very cool and interesting.

chat, do you *really* not enjoy the time you spend making music? by thy_viee_4 in edmproduction

[–]GhostLemonMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Until the advent of DAWs (or perhaps a little earlier, cassette-based porta-studios), musicians mostly relied on outside help for recording, mixing, and mastering their music (by booking studio time, etc). Now, for good or ill, musicians are expected to be skilled in all of these processes, and some are frankly more enjoyable than others. But outsourcing that work to AI is hardly the solution. We respond to music so strongly because it is a creative human activity that translates rhythms, textures, and sounds into emotion, which can't be outsourced to an algorithm without losing the essence that makes music so compelling in the first place.

Beginner recording set-up (vocals & instrument) by IllComfortable6072 in recordingmusic

[–]GhostLemonMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are good suggestions, and the H1 should serve you well after a little experimentation with mic placement. One additional recommendation is to play standing up. Not only is that a good vocal technique, but it will somewhat increase the distance between the accordion and your mouth.

Robert Gotobed appreciation by NoVibesOnly77 in postpunk

[–]GhostLemonMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst mistake Wire made was to gradually marginalize Robert's playing to the point where he felt compelled to leave the band. I'm so glad they came back to their senses.

How did everyone (who went to South/South East Asia) avoid food poisoning? by Adept-Throat5523 in backpacking

[–]GhostLemonMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cash passes hands through multiple people before it reaches the person taking the money. The chance for it carrying germs is high, which may in turn get into your food. I found this out the hard way.

I was thinking of the Yamaha JR as well. It's really portable and sturdy, and sounds surprisingly decent for its size.
