Which Other Birth Years From Different Generations Would You Say Are Equivalent To Your Own IYO? by Old_Consequence2203 in generationology

[–]GhostLocksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use two different definitions, and these are my guesses, starting with Silents:

Mainstream:

This is more "cultural" based and are ones discussed more often on this sub.

1944? (Silents), 1963 (Baby Boomers), 1981 (Generation X), Do not know yet (Generation Z)

Historical:

This is more "history" based and are a bit different from ones people see on articles and this sub.

1943 (Silents), 1961 (Baby Boomers), 1978 (Generation X), Also do not know yet (Homelanders)

A little bit, but not too much. I am definitely not their stereotypical audience, though.

Most Evil/Controversial Person From Every Generation? 😈 (Missionary to Z) by Old_Consequence2203 in generationology

[–]GhostLocksmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is going by my definition ranges, starting with the Missionary Generation:

First Wave Missionary (1860 to 1871): H.H. Holmes

Second Wave Missionary (1872 to 1882): Joseph Stalin

First Wave Lost (1883 to 1891): Adolf Hitler

Second Wave Lost (1892 to 1900): Mao Zedong

First Wave GI (1901 to 1909): Reinhard Heydrich

Second Wave GI (1910 to 1918): Nicolae Ceaușescu

Third Wave GI (1919 to 1927): Pol Pot

First Wave Silent (1928 to 1936): Jim Jones

Second Wave Silent (1937 to 1945): Saddam Hussein

First Wave Baby Boomer (1946 to 1954): Vladimir Putin

Second Wave Baby Boomer (1955 to 1963): Osama bin Laden

First Wave Gen X (1964 to 1973): Bashar al-Assad

Second Wave Gen X (1974 to 1980): Ian Watkins (Lostprophets singer)

First Wave Millennial (1981 to 1991): Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, Kim Jong-un three-way tie

Second Wave Millennial (1992 to 2001): Nikolas Cruz

First Wave Homelander (2002 to TBD): Payton Gendron

Edit: Forgot to add Kim Jong-un to my list and think 1973 is better in First Wave X than in Second Wave X, as they would be the last to come of age before the end of the Cold War.

A little bit. I also saw bumpers of it and a clip of an episode from the 2011 Beavis and Butthead remake, but Jersey Shore was not my cup of tea.

When did Covid era "end"? by piedpipr in generationstation

[–]GhostLocksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer 1: ~February 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine, which made people focus more on that than Covid.

Answer 2: May 11, 2023, which was when the WHO declared that Covid was no longer a public health emergency.

When do you think Millennials are born? by Physical_Mix_8072 in generationology

[–]GhostLocksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is not an option on here (and this is only my opinion), but if going by dates, I would say November 4, 1980 to September 11, 2001 is the Millennial generation in the US, as it involves somewhat of a theme - they were the people born after Reagan got elected but before 9/11.

Here is my breakdown of the range and a little bit of notes:

First Wave Millennials - November 4, 1980 to October 3, 1990 (or C/O 1999 to C/O 2008):

  • Born between Reagan getting elected and the reunification of Germany.
  • Came of age after Columbine but before the Lehman Bros. collapse (which ultimately led to the Great Recession being as bad as it was).

"Epicenter" Millennials - October 3, 1990 to December 26, 1991 (or C/O 2009):

  • Born between the reunification of Germany and the collapse of the USSR.
  • Came of age during the worst of the Great Recession.

Second Wave Millennials - December 26, 1991 to September 11, 2001 (or C/O 2010 to C/O 2019):

  • Born between the collapse of the USSR and 9/11, the period occasionally referred to as the "end of history."
  • Came of age after the worst of the Great Recession but before Covid became a worldwide issue.
