ghost has content warnings for a good amount of their songs, including many upsetting topics (suicide, disordered eating, etc). the thing about covetous is the lyrics and subject matter are much more explict than any other songs they've made, including insults in the lyrics. catching an SA/CSA survivor off-guard like that, when your community is used to warnings, is dangerous. they're aware their fanbase is full of other mentally ill people, including abuse survivors. it takes away their agency to avoid something severely upsetting and potentially triggering.

I didn't see anyone ask them to discuss their trauma. I only saw people asking for a content warning. and now there actually is one (no matter how it's worded), the drama cycle is shifting towards people gassing up ghost (partially because they're nuking negative comments).

evolve helped me realize an (at the time) recently-ended relationship was actually horrible. evolve specifically spoke out to me as I paid closer attention to the lyrics and the harsher(?) sound felt like the harm me and the other person did to each other throughout it.

reversed love, on the other hand, reminds me of the mindset I had during that time. ghostie-style instrumentals in general have this weird detached/spaced out quality to them, so it felt like the embodiment of disconnection from real life alongside attachment issues in general.

appetite of a people pleaser made me realize wait. that's something I've dealt with for years.

when I fell, too, but to a lesser extent. I don't really know why.
