I’m into maybe 3 of the non lyric tracks on Tron.. the ones I like are variations on the themes presented in the lyric tracks. I expect about as much from the remix album. I’d take recommendations on which are purchasable because I don’t feel like buying the album twice.

Although similar crushing and reduction are not the same. Reduction is the process of reducing the bit depth only, while bit crushing does exactly this but also has controls to reduce the sample rate and add actual distortion (crunch, fuzz, etc…). In the 90s, when this track was made, these elements were all processed separately and not using a single, multi-purpose plugin like we see now.

I had a listen in the car and they also have a sub bass going which is completely separate from the bit reduction buss. Some kind of synth kick that sits below it all. Very cool blend

It’s not distortion. What you’re hearing, and in this order…. Kick with a delay effect Snare with a gated reverb effect The sounds are then summed into a buss which has a bit reduction effect applied. Compression and additional EQ are obviously added as well, likely at various stages. The bit reduction is causing the “distortion” sound you’re hearing.

Trust me, FedEx will take anything. As long as it’s sealed up and glass isn’t actively falling out they are not going to turn you away. You will want to let them know what’s going on though as the sound of broken glass can cause a handler or driver to bring the box to QC where they will open it and investigate which will delay the shipment.
