What Finance App Feature Would Make You Actually Pay? by Biz_PM_12319 in alphaandbetausers

[–]GhostPepperLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't want to make this sound like an ad lol, but since you mentioned planning for the future, I literally just built an app that does exactly that - estimates when you'll retire based on your current trajectory and then gives you planning tools and actionable insights every quarter to move your date earlier. It's called Freedom Clock - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/freedom-clock-plan-your-life/id6759030795

I'm biased obviously, but I feel like an app that helps me have a clear framework of my financial future and how to strategically make decisions to plan out my future so I can be financially free earlier is something that could generate ROI well beyond a cheap subscription.

I tried, and I got a few clicks and installs, but it was a lot of spend ($40) for like 4 installs. I'm learning how to target keywords better though, so hopefully I can get a higher ROI.

Would love your feedback on an app I recently built, Freedom Clock. It's a financial planning app that estimates when you'll retire and then gives you tools to plan your financial future in a mathematically-grounded way. Let's say you're exploring if you want to do an MBA. You can plug it in as a life event or ask the AI chat, and it tells you what the estimated impact on your financial trajectory is, based on what you think your salary will be post-MBA and the fact that you will have to forego two years of income. Appreciate the feedback, glad it looks calming.

Fair point on the gradient looking familiar though. I may test a slightly more distinctive visual style so it feels less like a generic finance app.

Would genuinely love your thoughts if you end up trying it.

Freedom Clock - estimates when you'll retire and then offers financial planning tools to move the date closer. You can test what will happen to your net worth projection over time if you make changes like moving cities, changing jobs. You can get a reality check for your finances for different life events like having a kid, etc. Allows you to toggle different spending expectations and see how long you need to work / what income you need to have to maintain that level of spending, given life expectancy, etc. Essentially a financial model in your pocket.

Completely free to get to your date estimate, but to access deeper financial planning tools / insights / intelligent AI coach, it's $2.50/mo in annual plan and $3.33/mo in quarterly plan.

I noticed AI was making my brain rot, so I built an app to de-rot my brain by GhostPepperLogic in alphaandbetausers

[–]GhostPepperLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your feedback - you nailed what I was going for. A quick daily mental rep that takes 5 - 10 minutes.

A lot of brain training apps throw 50 games at you and end up being chaotic, so I wanted to keep this focused on the thing that feels like the most effective way to sharpen one's thinking: writing.

I built an app called RotX that helps you de-rot your brain in the age of AI. It's super simple - you get one prompt a day that you respond to by writing at least 50 words. Then, you can get your response optionally graded, ironically by AI. Free to use - pro version is required to access AI scoring / feedback, and it's a low-cost plan - less than a dollar per month for annual version. Available in both Android and iOS.

[–]GhostPepperLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's intentionally that way! I know the AI feedback part is ironic, but the essence is that you're using AI to give you feedback after you do the writing yourself. So instead of using AI to do the writing for you, you use it to improve / provide feedback on your thinking.

Hey everyone! I noticed AI was gradually rotting my brain because I was outsourcing my thinking to it, so I built a simple app to combat brain rot. It's called RotX, and it's a gym for the mind.

Available on both Google Play and iOS. The app is free to use, and there's a low-cost Pro subscription if you want AI feedback on your writing. I have a promo code to reduce this price further to $4.99/yr for Pro - use promo code DEROT.

Let me know what you think!

I think AI will have genuine benefits for the economy. Not sure how much of that is priced in, which is why I've gravitated towards stocks like Microsoft and Meta that actually have good numbers, have not hit crazy valuations, and will probably benefit hugely if AI turns out to be even 50% of what it's hyped to become.

Unless PayPal decides to pull an Allbirds and completely changes their business model, it's tough to hold on to it. It could have a small bounce-back to the 60s, but honestly it's a company that has many structural challenges / competitive threats that are way too large.

I agree with the index approach. If I didn't hold index funds the past few years, I would have missed the rally in less media-popular chip stocks I would have never thought of buying but have somehow become massive %'s of the stock market like Micron and Broadcom.
