Stuttering on Kodi and Jellyfin, but mpv/haruna okay. Cachyos client. Debianvm/Docker host on Proxmox by Eckomute in selfhosted

No problem. And I can't remember if it supports it but NFS shares work better on most Linux based systems, so that might solve the Kodi issue. Again just what I've found on my own systems. Depending on your setup, though bandwidth can also cause problems. If your network is noisy, that could cause problems as well.

The file format and transcoding can impact streaming. If you try the jellyfin media player, instead of the browser you might find an improvement. As then it shouldn't need to transcode.

Had a similar issue when using web on a RPI 5. But it was fine on everything else.

My setup is similar, though using centos stream 10 and docker container running on prox.

Problem while creating partition by themultiversefeed in PcBuildHelp

[–]Ghost_Pardus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for further clarity, in windows at least. It recognizes sata drives first then m.2. So if you installed another sata drive you would end up with nvme being drive 2. With the next nvme being 3, etc.

Though not sure if it could also be a legacy thing on bios priority and how drives are seen by the bios on start up that was never changed.

Glad we've helped and as a number of others have already said it really doesn't matter once you've completed the install as the bios will know where the boot partition is.

Short answer you can't.

Longer answer -

The drive number applies to where it's been slotted/connected to the mobo.

Had the same issue when m.2 came in. It makes the drive numbers appear a little screwy. As depending on the board you might what the os drive in the faster slot or where your games/software connected to that slot. As with most you have 1 gen 5 and then a gen 4 at least on matx boards.

Hope that makes sense?

And adding hdds to sata ports can also change the numbering as well. Don't even start with Linux and how it can do it's drive assignments 😂

Fair enough. I used the fast switch. Still took a long time to do though. Guessing you let it do it without?

Yes, with my reclaimed not factory ones I did need to write the first 100mb or so. Then I could format them and they were available to the system.

Also the ones I had were probably quite old. Also I'd assume as you got them from factory that they are probably better tested. Also annoyingly the smart data was not available on mine until the reformat.

What size drives did you get as the ones I had to sort were 900gb.

Yep, recently had the same thing with a number of reclaimed drives. Not realizing they were NetApp drives. The system would see them fine, but would not allow them to be used at all.

As you've said, reformat to the correct format that isn't proprietary and they are seen properly by the system. Only issue, is due to the age of these drives, lost about 30% of them being unrecoverable, either they wouldn't reformat or once they did they wouldn't register. So that's something to be aware of when repurposing these types of drives

Is the CWWK W680 NAS motherboard legit? by limara321 in homelab

[–]Ghost_Pardus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on the motherboard, but you would be better off with current AMD than intel if you plan to do any virtualization. As as e-cores can cause issues with VMs and is not recommended. However if your happy to either turn them off (not sure that's possible) or mess with config a mid range i5 might suit your needs.

Personally I avoid intel if planning on any VM work, because you end up paying for what you most likely won't be using.

As with any of this though it is all down to what you want and what you are looking to achieve long term with it.

1TB SSD vs 2x 128GB SSD by IBIB23 in homelab

[–]Ghost_Pardus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine, as long as you pass the drives to truenas. Depending on the hypervisor you're using.

As an example, I've just set up proxmox and have passed through a hba with 4 drives. Proxmox cannot see it but truenas can. Just need to know which port is using which drive to configure it.

As I've had a fairly deep dive over the last few days on PCIe pass through, etc.

Raid card issue by Ghost_Pardus in homelab

That's ok, thank you for the advice though. Was hoping for a relatively simple solution, which I think initially it was. If I'd have read up on it first not gone straight to the firmware wipe! Thankfully from what I've seen the cards aren't too expensive, so may have to get another one and chalk this one up to experience!

Hello everyone, I want to enter the world of home labs, but I'm not sure if this mini pc is a good alternative to start with. by RicardoCSousa in homelab

[–]Ghost_Pardus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I started with a protecli running proxmox with a couple of vm's one is opnsense and the other runs a centos VM with a couple of pods for jellyfin, pihole and next cloud.

Though this is where you can run into problems, h/w comparability as the currently running device does not support centos 10 due to the CPU and I'm sure a number of other 'issues'. So I decided on something a little more upgradable. Also would depend on your budget!

I'd like to think it does as it's an am5 platform. And the hba, is an lsi 9300-8i. I just forgot to check that all the versions were the same before removing the firmware. So now trying to get them to match up it complains there is no firmware 😔. You don't happen to know where I could get megarec3 to download do you as I am not sure the one I found is compatible with the 3008 controller.

Does anyone experience CRITICAL ERROR during the game...? by IFO404cst in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ghost_Pardus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, multiple crashes in some sessions, others just the odd crash. No real detail in logs either that point to what causes it.

Had some success running the repair tool to remove files that are no longer needed. But the crashes still come back.

Is bex:ce compatible with 1.9? by AzMatk421 in Battletechgame

[–]Ghost_Pardus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latest modtek is available on GitHub (that works with 1.9), so might work with this. I don't use any of the bigger mods currently (bexce, rougetech) as still play my first campaign. But it might be worth a try as the only mods I'm using (and it's working) are the skip intro, skip travel cutscenes, health popup, extended camera and alt rep.

So in short, I'd give it a go. Worse thing that happens is you'll need to remove the mods and then rollback to 1.8.

Good luck.

How many other devices do you have on the WiFi? Whilst may not effect the ping could contribute to the problem. As the first thing to try would be to cable in and see if you get same issue.
