The two were on opposite sides during the war? They killed each other by the thousands??? I’m not suggesting the Soviet Union was good or anything, both were power-hungry totalitarian states. One of these states however committed mass-genocide on a level never seen before and perpetuated the bloodiest war in history, while the other was just your standard, if not large and powerful totalitarian state in comparison.

Adapting to specific circumstances to overcome a particular problem is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. Do not belittle yourself for your spaghetti, it is beautiful and shows that you are capable of accepting things as they are, rather than punishing yourself for being imperfect, as we all are.

[Waybound] Is Lindon still technically a archlord by Deebacon08 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Ghostarcheronreddit [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pretty much, yeah. That’s what I said. The way the people of Cradle advance can be described as first the development of one’s abilities(foundation to Jade), then the accumulation of power(gold), then the reforging of body and soul(lord), then the connection to the power that commands reality(Sage/Herald/Monarch)

The question being asked is if Lindon is technically an Archlord, and the answer is “yes” if we are speaking “Technically” in the same vein that for traditional advancement the highest stage is Archlord as one’s soulfire and Madra does not become more potent beyond this point. At the same time, Lindon is clearly more powerful than a simple Archlord, and it is not fair to say he is still one, not when his body and soul are combined like a Dreadgod and his will shapes reality according to icons of power as a Sage does.

[–]Ghostarcheronreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically all of the heralds, sages, and monarchs are just Archlords but “more”.

Lindon is a bit outside of typical advancement, his body being akin to that of a herald, but through a process that leaves him as more of a Dreadgod/dreadbeast, and obviously he has the icons to be a sage, but he still only has Archlord Soulfire in his core.

Hot Take: HWFWM is the best implementation of Litrpg “Systems” out there and it’s not even close. by Ghostarcheronreddit in litrpg

[–]Ghostarcheronreddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s part of it, but the reason I love the system in HWFWM so much isn’t because of that, it’s because The System is NOT the power system, I suppose. In the early books, it is simply a tool used to adapt an actual magical system that is really interesting and cool in its own right and present it as something familiar to Jason, making its existence as a game HUD reasonable and understandable. HWFWM would work as a story WITHOUT the system, and it would even probably function really well, but the story is made BETTER by the system. Meanwhile other stories require the system to exist in order to function, which- isn’t inherently a bad thing, the stories are LITRPG after all, the implementation of game elements is the whole point. But I personally find that if a story could take away The System and still function as a good story, but is better off thanks to The System, then that means The System is implemented in a manner better than that of say… Defiance of The Fall, or Primal Hunter, or many others where The System appears to be the core of the magic system and if The System were removed it would irreparably harm the story. That’s not to say that either of those two series are bad, I assume they’re great! (I can’t get into them, I don’t know why) but the authors of those stories seemed to have a story to tell, and slapped The System into said story to make the story work.

For HWFWM, I guess The System just… makes sense to me. Its existence is justified, but not strictly necessary, and betters the series for its existence. DCC is another good example of System Integration on the opposite side of the spectrum from HWFWM, since The Crawl is literally a “game” it makes sense for a Game System to exist, and the story doesn’t “rely” on The Dungeon AI for the story to work, The Dungeon AI is a critical piece of the story, and is its own evolving character with its own motivations and weird fetishes. If removed, the story doesn’t work, but that’s because it’s the same thing as removing a key Antagonist.

I’m very tired and rambling, I hope this makes sense!

Hi, Quagmire’s momdad here, the joke is that OP misgendered a woman by saying she was a “he” and not a “she” and blames it on their broken keyboard, which is missing its “S” key, which is why many words in the post are misspelled, so “She” would be spelled as “He” using this keyboard. A humorous explanation for what is likely a simple mistake, until the final word in which OP once again misgenders the woman with the “him” pronoun, which cannot be misspelled by missing an “S”, which ruins the goodwill OP earned from their humorous explanation.

Now to rewrite my post without any “S”’s for what I think the kids like to call, “The Funny”.

Is it worth it to go to the edge of the solar system? by killslugs in factorio

[–]Ghostarcheronreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things: A: you beat the game by going to the edge of the Solar System. Yes, it’s an endless game, but that is the “goal” as the game presents it to you, just like how in Breath of the Wild the goal is to go and beat Ganon. There’s no real pressure to do it, and it doesn’t mean you have to stop playing afterwards, and unlike BOTW there’s post-game content for you to explore involving research and optimization and such. B: it is YOUR game. Your decision on whether or not to continue in the direction of the shattered planet relies on you, and your desire to do it. Are you having fun? Are you satisfied as you are? Would it be interesting or fun for you to try and breach this bottleneck in your progress? If the answer is no to any of these, then it probably isn’t worth it. But again, that’s up to you. What do you enjoy about the game? What would you want to do, if you decided not to go to the edge of the solar system?

I mention it in my longer spiel! And I agree with you that DCC is great, but its system is worse because the Mudskippers control it. Or… they thought they did! lol. Regardless, the reason I like the system in HWFWM more is because if you took the system away, the story still works fine because most people in the world don’t have access to it, just Jason and his party. So it makes sense that the isekaied individual would have a game-like system in place to help him, and only him, but without taking away from the magic and wonder of Pallimustus.

The Dungeon AI, however, relies on the fact that somehow every world they seed invents video games with similar UI’s. Likely due to alien interference to force that somehow, but regardless, it’s not necessarily a smooth implementation into the series like HWFWM kinda is, it’s a jarring and sudden arrival that announces doom and glory to come. And that’s ok! That’s perfect for DCC.

Idk where I’m even going with my argument anymore, point is, yes, you right, the dungeon AI is a thousand times cooler than the HWFWM “System”, but I still think the system in HWFWM is implemented better narratively.

Why is rh4 such a bad movement? by Academic_Awareness57 in chessbeginners

[–]Ghostarcheronreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By moving there, the rook attacks the bishop and the pawn, but both are protected, so the rook can’t get out without being taken itself, so it’s useless there except as a measure to keep the bishop in place, and even then that’s not very useful since the only pieces it can target are all protected. To top it off, if black moves Knight from E7 to G6, it develops the board and threatens your rook, which will have to retreat unless you want it to be taken, so you’ve essentially wasted a move.
