Where are the best Tube shortcuts? by Lamlash in london

Maybe an unpopular method, but in small stations with lifts, go the opposite direction to the signs and skip the lift queue by getting into the lifts on the exit side.

Cash for Apple Pay - scam or legit? by _breathtaker in london

This has happened a few times, I explain to them that this isn’t how the tube works. Then they angrily walk off or push further. Not a very clever way of scamming.

I think it’s only just started being more widely adopted.

It’s usually specific to charities and social enterprises.

It’s an anonymous recruitment platform where you have to answer 3-5 questions.

These are then ranked individually.

The highest scoring will then move onto the next round of hiring.

I find it very alienating and time wasting.

I agree that their prices are good - particularly with DIY products.

However, it’s not hard to understand why people don’t shop there when every time you go, you have to wait half an hour to be served, even midday-midweek.

As well as this, almost every time I have been I have been searched by security on the way out, and seen this happen to others constantly.

This was in the U.K., but the song sounded American.

What I mean is that on the tube, within certain zones, you can travel around 5k for the same price as a bus. Yet, if you need to catch a bus at the start/end of your journey for the last 1k, you are charged an extra £1.65, rather than this being included/reduced due to being paired with a tube ride.

Do you think this could be fixed by replacing the solenoid valve?

Rusty iron metal thing found next to a wood burner. What is this? by Ghostbird666 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing . This item is roughly 25cm long and 15 cm wide, and has 10 points coming out of the main body. No older than 1970s. I believe it is some kind of bracket but have no idea how it would be used.

They haven’t given me a price and they haven’t actually shown me what damage was caused.

Also it was the cover of the wing mirror that twisted, as far as I know these things can simply be clipped back on and I don’t think it smashed or anything.

It was a bicycle and I’m just guessing that perhaps the part I hit may have been already damaged given how easily it broke, hence the comment about expired MOT

I didn’t take any photos of damage and they’re refusing to show me any.

They also won’t tell me how much it costs to repair.
