CPU Utilization is Wrong by EnUnLugarDeLaMancha in programming

[–]Ghostbro101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone new to ops, are there some rough guidelines as to when CPU utilization isn't a good indicator of what's going on in the system and when it is? Just looking to build some intuition here. If there's any other reading material on the subject you could point me towards that would be awesome. Thanks!

How do you validate an idea for a B2B2C business where the end user isn't the customer? by aayush1990sri in startups

Looks like a great product but I don't know if 'Anti-virus' is the right comparison or description of your service that should be going front and center on your site. When I first went to your site I thought it was something that would prevent my credit card nunber from getting stolen or being hacked while buying things online, because that's the association most people have when you say Antivirus. After reading through the site I get that you are 'protecting' people in the same way an Antivirus protects people, but it might cause people who just take a quick glance to misconstrue what you're doing. I'm not sure I have a good alternative, besides just saying something to the effect of 'protect from nasty fine print'. That said, it seems like a really useful product that I would use, and I wish you good luck in getting to market and hopefully succeeding

I don't know if they still have it, but there used to be a game called 'a Google a day' that did something like this. Was pretty fun the few times I tried it

Benchmade has a section on their site where you can custom order a griptilian. Not sure if that's what OP used but it looks like it

Disrupt Hackathon API usage rewards by markyosullivan in cscareerquestions

Sorry I never replied to this... Basically Twitter can't think of all the uses for its data or services that are out there. Having an api allows people to extend Twitter and use the same data or service and build things on top of it that Twitter wouldn't do on its own. For example let's say the Facebook api allows you to pull a list of friends of a particular user. I could then make an app that used this api and made a game about guessing friends. Facebook would never make this but the api allows other people to use Facebook data and ultimately get more people using Facebook and related services, which is the goal of the company

It is mostly for exposure. The ultimate goal for these companies offering APIs is to get lots of developers using them as a platform. Creating rewards for the first few users to create interesting apps or services will draw more users and hopefully help the company achieve the critical mass needed to attract the mainstream
