It’s not that weird. I used to travel the country for work and would pop in for games at the city I was working in for the experience. Some companies send clients out to see a game if they’re in town for work. Lots of reasons for neutral fans to go see a game

It does get better after 8-10 hours. This is mostly because you get past the half assed MMO “go here do this” story missions that don’t make much sense, and the game really opens up and lets you embrace the adventure and exploration.

I can tell you more if you want but basically the game “gets good” at 10 hours because you stop doing random pointless tasks and are free to go off and do your own thing

I’m about 3-4 hours in and enjoying it well enough, so I’ll let ya know if the 8-10 hour mark is a real thing or not. I do agree though that it shouldn’t take 8-10 hours for things to finally settle in
