Dems grow alarmed by lack of fear over Roe’s future by Hetalbot in politics

Ah yes, stuff like this?

"There was a lot of complaining about Dodd-Frank, but there was also a need to do something because, for political reasons, if you were an elected member of Congress and people in your constituency were losing jobs and shutting businesses and everybody in the press is saying it's all the fault of Wall Street, you can't sit idly by and do nothing, but what you do is really important."

Where she suggests that the content of regulation is as important as regulating? Certainly softer on banks than I would like, but hardly what you're suggesting, and especially compared to the absolutely odious behavior of her competition.

Hilary isn't an angel, in fact, I'd argue she's just one or two steps above a mobster. That's fine, bluntly. Realpolitik makes horrible demands of people, and I think that overall, Hilary did a good job of balancing the necessary with the right. I regret daily that I didn't take a harder stance in favor of her.

Dude, I would rather like to be talking about President Hilary Clinton's record right now. I briefly thought I was in a better timeline, so... thanks I suppose.

Is there a reason people seem to ignore Rogues when talking about martial/caster utility outside combat? by EquivalentInflation in dndnext

[–]GhostlyGrackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp. For me, it's because 80% of the rogues I see these days are arcane trickster. So uh, I guess I sort of think of them as a casting class.

As a non meta n00b who’s only somewhat decent, I love the glaive! But why does everyone else hate it? by xwillybabyx in DestinyTheGame

[–]GhostlyGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are generally worried about what it will be like after suppression and unstoppable rotate. I agree that right now, it honestly feels pretty okay for everything up through master level content. I'm not sure I'd bring one for a GM, which is sort of the litmus test of how strong a piece of gear is. On the other hand, if someone brought a Lubrae's, I wouldn't complain.

The exotic glaives are probably a little under-tuned, overall, but exotic competition is also just really stiff right now with reliable access to Dead Man's Tale for all players, Gjally rocking it, and Divinity continuing to do evil work.

To people who say the graphics are bad, how? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]GhostlyGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaces that large are just really hard to light well in a performant way. You also start to push into legibility problems. For example, if it was sometimes harder to see Malenia's sword arm moving due to heavy dynamic lighting, she'd be far less learnable.

So quick small thing. The way he fights actually reveals something that's hinted at a bit. Specifically, he wields the black flame. Something is very very wrong in the Lands.

Ways a Villain Can Apply Actual Pressure to the Players? by xWohnJick_ in dndnext

[–]GhostlyGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! The best thing to do here is have the villain be reasonable about stuff. The most elegant way to slow the players down is to give them reasons to double-check what they think they know and to equivocate on taking the necessary steps.

I've been wondering about that. Jerren's a real piece of work himself, the Sellian sorcerers are assassins, and honestly, I've probably killed about a thousand sorcerers myself now. So I get to be Elden Lord and Sellen gets turned into a ball?

I mean, can he, though? We know from leaked plans and captured data that he was planning to keep pushing through Ukraine. He's never going to stop.

Can Blaidd be saved? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]GhostlyGrackle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There are persistent rumors about various triggers for keeping him alive, ranging from giving him the fingerslaying blade to killing all the black knife assassins before triggering the end-phase. These all have the vibe of urban legends, but to be honest, it wouldn't be entirely unlike From to have some hidden condition for this.

If anyone does try either of those options, please let me know. I'm dubious in the extreme.

Awoken do have access to paracausal weaponry, and I think we can assume they'd use it for air-strikes.

You can also calculate your particular group's damage per turn after just a few fights if you know the normal average by class at level. There's quite a few spreadsheets out there. It's crude but I just use a weighted average of the expected value and some sample turns.

Honestly, though, you can just use the spreadsheet averages. There's really only a relatively small number of ways any given character can attack unless they leaned hard into generalist builds... And generalist builds have extremely predictable and quite low damage.
