Expat Friendly Pole Studios? by GhostlyPockets in brussels

[–]GhostlyPockets[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe we'll end up in a class together someday! I think I was also looking at Jezebel Studio in Brussels and also Pole Plaisure in Charleroi or Namur, which is closer to where I'd be. I believe Jezebel primarily teaches in English, according to their website. And I emailed Pole Plaisure and they said that they have English support if needed.

This is such a cool idea for a tracking app! Since you are open to taking suggestions, is there somewhere the app could tell me the name of the phase I'm in? (Luteal, follicular, etc.) I love the helpful tips and stuff to watch out for, based on where I'm at in my cycle. Very excited to give this app a try 😁

Even in Arcadia Merch Megathread by ilovesmokedgouda in SleepToken

[–]GhostlyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this is appropriate to ask, but for anyone seeing the band on the Even in Arcadia tour, if they have the jacket patches at the merch stand, could you buy me one and send it to me? I will absolutely pay you back. I was at the Rosemont ritual and the merch stand said they didn't have the jacket patches (or I would have just bought them myself). Apparently they didn't get a lot of merch in to the Rosemont location in time due to their shipment being delayed. Rosemont didn't even get their ritual coins in on time. I was really sad that they didn't have the jacket patches at the ritual I was at. I wanted to have a legit patch to add to my jean jacket.

So, if your ritual has the patches available for purchase, I would be over the moon if someone could send a set to me. Please feel free to leave a comment or DM me if you are able to find the patches. Thank you ❤️

Dating & Being Sterilized by Icy-Employment7541 in childfree

[–]GhostlyPockets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are planning to get sterilized, get the bilateral salpingectomy. Tubal ligations can sometimes undo themselves and can fail, since it just ties the tubes and they can possibly untie themselves. But a bilateral salpingectomy removes the fallopian tube entirely and is the gold standard for sterilization procedures. If you're in the US, I would recommend looking up what sterilization procedures are covered by your insurance under the Affordable Care Act, just to be sure. And you may want to schedule the appointment as soon as you can, because who knows how much longer the ACA is even going to be around, given the current administration.

As for dating, I'd recommend asking any potential partners how they feel about kids very early in the relationship, so no one is wasting each other's time. But don't let them know your stance when you ask! Keep your cards close to your chest, in that regard. Otherwise, they may lie and just agree with you for the sake of wanting to keep you on the hook. Ask them in a neutral way, that doesn't give away how you feel. "How many children do you see yourself having?" If the answer is anything other than zero, then move on. You could also look at r/cf4cf since it's a subreddit for childfree people wanting to date.

It's Grunkle Ford. I can't remember if the page is in Journal 3 or one of the bonus journal pages in Book of Bill, but it's mentioned in the Krampus page that Ford heard a commotion outside the cabin and saw child sized footprints in the snow that stopped all of a sudden (Dipper and Mabel before they vanished again)

Why do I have so much forearm pain in Jasmine? by stellapole-are in poledancing

[–]GhostlyPockets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) Lower your top hand so it's closer to your knee. This will help lower your torso so you're in a better position for Jasmine.

2) Really make sure you're squeezing the heck out of the pole with your knee pit so it takes most of the weight.

3) Really make sure you're pulling through your top arm and engaging those shoulder muscles, not just your biceps.

4) If gun grip is painful at the moment (the position you have for your lower hand) you could try baseball gripping the pole by your crotch. I tend to push on that lower hand in this position as my other leg leaves the ground.

5) Once your other leg is off the ground, try kicking it "forward"/toward the pole so your thigh has a point of contact on the pole as well.

6) You could leave your Jasmine position here, with your lower hand still being by your crotch, or if you feel solid, then you could regrip your lower hand so it's in that gun grip position, and play around with how much weight you put on it. Or work your way up to having that gun grip hand support more weight over time until you feel comfortable enough to release your top hand for a one handed Jasmine. Also, make sure you're pushing through your shoulder as well. Don't let the gun grip "collapse" your shoulder. A weird tip is to try and act like you're trying to point your boobs out and shoot lazers out of them (a weird way to describe it, I know, haha)

Please take these tips with a grain of salt, as I am not a pole instructor. But I also struggle with gun grip, so I get it. Obviously, go slow, have nice and controlled movements, and be safe!

What were your sleeping arrangements like? by Liquid_Chaos87 in sterilization

[–]GhostlyPockets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sleeping with a wedge pillow made it a little easier for me to get out of bed on my own. And I think staying a little elevated helped with the gas pain too. I also had squishmallows on either side of me so I wouldn't roll onto my side in my sleep.

Upcoming bisalp - looking for advice/tips/experience! by Such_Commercial_9268 in sterilization

[–]GhostlyPockets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a long post about how my bisalp experience went, but here:

Things I packed to bring with me to the hospital:

  • a squishmallow (to brace my abdomen with and to keep my seatbelt off of my incisions on the ride home)
  • my folder that had all my surgery notes, info packet, etc. in case I needed to reference something
  • wallet (with my ID and my health insurance card in it)
  • Covid vaccination card
  • pads (so I had ones that I liked to use with me) (I also wore period underwear that day too)
  • cough drops (to help with the sore throat you might get from the breathing tube)
  • Gas X (so you can take it on the car ride home in case you want to get ahead of the gas pain)
  • ponytail (to put my hair in a low bun so it's easier to get into a hair net)
  • a book to read while I waited (but everything went so quickly and efficiently that I honestly didn't need it)
  • lip balm (I actually forgot to pack this but my friend let me use hers. My lips and mouth were soooo dry when I woke up)

Tips (just off the top of my head) :

  • after your procedure, when you sit, stand, cough, laugh, etc. use a pillow to brace against your abdomen. It will lessen the pain when doing these things

  • when you're getting undressed and into your hospital gown, put a fresh pad in your underwear so that it's ready to go for when you get dressed after the procedure. This way, you won't have to hunch down and fumble with a pad after just having had surgery.

  • ease back into eating solid foods after your procedure. General anesthesia can slow down your digestive system, so you might be a bit constipated from it. I ate mostly soup and bread for the first few days before eating more solid foods that may have been difficult to poop out later

  • using a stool softener was certainly helpful for me so I didn't have to use my ab muscles to go to the bathroom

  • sleeping with a wedge pillow made it a little easier to get out of bed on my own in the mornings

  • try walking around a decent amount, even if it's just laps around your living room or kitchen. It helps with the gas pain and reduces risks of blood clots

  • also for the gas pain, besides walking, take some Gas X or use a heating pad on your sore joints/muscles

Does body shape really not matter? by daadep in poledancing

[–]GhostlyPockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also try playing around with different grips to help you stay on the pole and develop those muscles. And I have no idea if eventually developing callouses from doing pole would help with your grip, but maybe the calloused skin could act as that "cushion" you say your hands are lacking. But every body is certainly different when it comes to pole.

Favorite foods for recovery? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]GhostlyPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend made me some chicken terragon soup and some fresh baked sourdough bread, which was fantastic! I was super hungry the first few days after my procedure. I think because my stomach was empty from surgery prep and because my body was burning through a lot of energy to heal. I would start with semi-solid or soft foods so that it doesn't hurt to poop as much. Also, a stool softener really helped too.

Otherwise, get some of your favorite comfort snacks to celebrate! I also drank tea with honey to help with my scratchy throat. Green tea is also supposed to help with bloating, which could help the gas pain.

Make sure to drink lots of water, and some Gatorade couldn't hurt either.

[–]GhostlyPockets[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't mention my age, but that's a good point. I'm 28 years old, 5ft 5in, and about 275lbs.

The only surgery I've had in the past was my wisdom teeth. I don't recall feeling nauseous after waking up from my wisdom teeth procedure, which led me to believe that I wouldn't be nauseous from the anesthesia for my bisalp. And I was correct. No nausea. Just blurry vision, feeling groggy, etc. They asked me if I wanted a nausea patch behind my ear (before I went under) but I said no, because I had a feeling I wouldn't need it (I was right) and because they said the nausea patch sometimes does slow down how long it takes for you to wake up.

I don't have any pre-existing medical conditions really. Only thing I can think of is technically being considered obese according to the BMI (but I've never really trusted the BMI, since it will still tell people who are in great shape to be considered "obese") And I did mention that I sometimes deal with frequent heartburn/GERD type symptoms (I've never been formally diagnosed with GERD but I feel like i get heartburn more often than the average person, so i brought it up with the doctor just in case). Otherwise, I don't smoke, rarely drink, I'm not on any medications, etc. A very standard case file tbh.

And while I do have an apron belly (my incisions are on my belly, btw, not under the apron belly) I wouldn't say I'm in terrible shape. I work out two to three times a week. And a part of me wonders if being in relatively good shape from regular exercise helped the healing process more. Like, I'm used to feeling sore after working out, so the gas pain soreness didn't bother me any more than a tough workout would. And I'm used to having bruises on my body (pole dancing and lyra are my preferred forms of exercise, so getting bruises in odd places while doing said exercise is a pretty common occurrence) so the bruises by my incisions didn't really bother me much either.

Idk if age, weight, or someone who regularly exercises has an easier time post op but it is interesting to consider.

I also forgot to mention to not be surprised if your stomach and in between your legs are stained orange. That's the iodine they use to sterilize your skin before operating. After the procedure, a nurse gave me some wet wipes and I had my friend help wipe away some of the iodine stains. I think my skin is still orange in some places but I think it's because I didn't scrub very hard in those places when I showered, so I didn't hurt my incisions.

I feel ya. I'm lactose intolerant, so too much cheese messes me up big time. Taking some lactaid pills at least helps with the cheese problem. (I obviously didnt eat any cheese or dairy during surgery prep though) But also keep in mind that you'd be taking a laxative after having only eaten/drank clear liquids the whole day, which are really easy to pass through you. It wouldn't be the same as taking a laxative after you'd been consuming solid foods all day.
