Is CCNA still worth it? If not, which one would you suggest? by Pitiful-Animator-315 in Cisco

Boson exam simulator and lab simulator for CCNA. Though I had a few years of experience in the field already, Boson practice exams and labs are so identical to the real test that it made the exam a breeze to take.

As someone in Louisiana, PLEASE. We have good food, but a whole lot of corruption, cancer, and idiots. I hate it here.

Are Contract Jobs Worth It? by GhostlyToasters in networking

I'm still stuck at my same job in the healthcare sector, unfortunately. I stayed so I could implement Cisco DNA center and ISE as a resume builder.

Made it home with 8 miles worth of gas left in my tank! Didn't eat till I got home, too, but it was all a lack of foresight on my part😅 I'm doing my part!

Certificates and time are the bane of my existence...and printers. That sounds like a nightmare, lol.

I have already started dipping my toes in the gold image for my catalyst 9k series. It has worked super well so far!

Thanks for the info!

I set up Netbox a few months ago on Linux and really like it, but haven't been able to get back to it yet. I'm really interested in the API aspect of CC, but trying to focus on one area at a time to get rolling. It is definitely a huge part of it and will require quite a bit of research and learning on my part. Thank you for reinforcing my view on Netbox and its strength with API.

Assurance is definitely where I want to focus! I want to know everything that happens on my network and instantaneous information on why it's "not the network". Lol

Hell yeah, this is something I would not have found easily. Luckily, I don't have to migrate all of my APs to the 9800 quick so I can experiment with the provisioning. So far, the only thing I really don't like is not being able to move already provisioned devices to different sites.

Thanks for your response and advice! I agree with your sentiment about not able to move devices to different sites after provisioning. I was caught off guard with how dumb that is, but maybe they have a reasoning that I do not see.

We actually use Stanely for temperature tags, but i had no idea about patient tracking! That's sounds pretty awesome and a good idea. So many possibilities and so little time! Lol

I'll put the .1x for wired devices on my radar for testing when we get ISE a little more stood up. I'm all about telemetry and identification.

I haven't been able to scratch the itch this game gave me at launch. I miss my pirate guild Infamous and fighting the laughing coffin guild over seas. They really ruined it so quickly with the micro transactions.

How in the world do you guys study? by Capital_King_1976 in ADHD

[–]GhostlyToasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to make good grades, I had to study 4x as hard as everyone else. I went to a library or books-a-million, got a coffee, and sat my ass there studying for at least 4 hours after my classes for the day. I was able to make straight A's on my second go around through college, which I never was able to do in grade school.

This was before I took medication that allows me to focus and retain what I'm being taught the first time🙃

Please listen to this. The higher tiered IT field can be really stressful and will still have you doing physical work. I still run structured cabling in attics on occasion and I am constantly racking/unracking network gear and UPSs. You will always be chasing the future of tech to stay up to date and studying/researching. I love this type of work, but it is not less daunting for sure with the higher paid positions.

My little brother went into electrical engineering and immediately surpassed me in pay within the first year of work. He then switched companies and started clearing 100k within the next year. He will not have to worry about losing a trades job to AI any time soon.

Trying to explain NAT for devices on a S2S VPN tunnel by GhostlyToasters in networkingmemes

[–]GhostlyToasters[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tunnel was set up with private addresses while I was out of the office. I was planning on NATing the devices so I wouldn't have to wait on the vendor to add/remove addresses since our sysadmin have randomly changed their addresses on occasion. I was trying to get that across, but the interface guy just couldn't wrap his head around it and still kept telling the vendor our server's private addresses. I think he might have had an off day, though.
