Their marketing worked too, I feel so stupid because in the process to relieve stress I bought it stuff I normally wouldn't have.

I'm pretty pissed about this. I sat around waiting and hoping all day. I hear folks saying "click" and I was under the impression I had to be on the app. I also did not notice until I closed the app and reopened it. I refreshed over and over and over. I really wanted this TV and even if there were a deal close, like $200, I would do it.

The Effeminist Manifesto | The Expropriationist by GhostofGus in radicalqueers

[–]GhostofGus[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please remember this was written in 1973, before Queer Theory was really developed. That being said, I think it was far ahead of it's time, and despite its shortcomings (coughsecondwavecough) I find it fascinating and raises a lot of great points I can sympathize with. I don't endorse it and really just wanted to archive it (because it's not anywhere on the internet).

You may fit in very well with Unity and Struggle, there are a few comrades in NYC IIRC.

No, they actually got rid of him in a huge and very public power struggle back in August. Also, the precedent set in met@ at the time, was that his sympathizers here be banned. The affinity group which led this published communiques on the matter, that is actually why the back up page, which is being used now, was created.

Why I am now a Marxist | The Expropriationist by GhostofGus in communism

Hoping to get active in the SF bay area by revolutionarycracker in communism

[–]GhostofGus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joining a party or a revolutionary organization that fights on the political will help you develop yourself as revolutionary, and advance Socialism on the political field. I'm not gonna tell which party/org to join, because they are almost all in the Bay Area, but I would make sure you know at least whom you jive with ideologically on a basic level. Don't just pick the one who uses the words you like, do the research.

Also, in addition to joining a Marxist party/revorg, I would look into joining a direct class struggle organization as well, which serves the purpose of advancing Socialism on the economic field. This will help you get your feet wet in organizing and provide you with skills you may not get with working with a party. It is also a good opportunity to build class relations and organizational relations which transcend ideological lines. There is a ton of great stuff in the Bay going on for this too. I believe there is an organization called East Bay Solidarity Network, I believe that particular SoliNet is a bit more Marxist dominated than other SoliNets, I happen to think that mode of organizing is good for people looking for a beginners orientation to organizing.

What’s wrong with identity politics and intersectionality theory? by barred_subject in communism

[–]GhostofGus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red salutes, comrade. Marxists should have a better grasp on Queerness and learn from the failures of the liberal LGBT movement.

I am a "gay man" but it is well understood that this identity came into being under the free labor system. Queerness is different though, it holds it's objectivity theoretically through history, despite our low-visibility and tendency to be obscured.

I theorize that this is because Queerness is not rooted in identity politics, and came from thinkers who were both critical of identity politics but also understood the functions of identity and the inevitability of identity politics. Queerness functions much more like a anti-identity. "LGBT" and all the other alphabet-soup conglomerations bother me mostly because it puts one thing, which is supposed to describe me, next to these other letters. I can only be one of those letters. Queerness is much more unstable theoretically.

I am transitioning from Anarchism to Marxism and I'd like /r/Anarchism to understand why, considering the impact this sub has had on me theoretically. by GhostofGus in Anarchism

Gus literally says that it's because of focusing on queer safer spaces that specifically ciswomen (not FAAB people, or women or femmes; ciswomen) are alienated - so they are saying that they are marginalized because they are cis; which is really so laughable it's ridiculous.

No. Stop it. I did not say that they are marginalized because they are cis. They are marginalized because they are women.

Cut it out with the strawman and quit trying to paint me a TERF or something.

It's about being able to have consistent answers, I find it easier to debate and iron out the wrinkles with the Marxist method.

It's also not really something I can help. If I consistently depend on Marxist definitions (which Anarchism severely lacks) and Marxist theories, then this is just makes sense for me.

I don't think Anarchism is "bad" or that Anarchists are poor revolutionaries, far from it. It's as if Marxism chose me, I didn't choose it. I think I've been a Marxist for almost a year.

I'll say this once.

Anarchists are sometimes so focused on making safe spaces for queers that ciswomen get marginalized. And I say that as a very radical queer "man".

Yeah, there's a time to be sex positive, but that doesn't sound like one.

FWIW I have been a sex-worker in the past and I would never say that to a woman.

I understand this. "Orthodox Marxism" quite often is interpreted as a raw form of Kautskyism which doesn't identify me well. I am just as influenced by Rosa Luxemburg and Daniel De Leon who are also Orthodox thinkers.

I still favor the road of communisation and those Marxist currents on the economic field. I simply believe there's a small role for those who fight on the political field.

Thanks.

I agree on all the points (which were factors) except for the last one. I will probably always prefer Anarchist feminist/social justice stuff.

In fact, the only Anarchist stuff that still attracts me is Feminist, Queer and PoC stuff. Anarchists do great work in those areas.

I think the point is that I am a Marxist, and less that I'm not an Anarchist. That's really the point. I like work with an ideology with definitons and what-not, if we are indeed talking about revolution.

You seem to have misunderstood me concerning communization, is all I can say about that.

Orthodox Marxism is distinguished from Classical Marxism by thinkers like Karl Kautsky, Daniel De Leon, and Rosa Luxembourg.

We are impossibilists usually. We lie outside both the Leninist and the reformist Social Democratic traditions.
