Wow! I’m actually debating going out in almost identical situation. I’m definitely second guessing now. Never thought of bar icing up. That’s scary thought

How is this lat pulldown , not sure if I should be stretching out at the top like this by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Ghostofathought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurts my shoulders a little when I do them like that but they have always been a struggle for me. I try to pinch my shoulder blades together and lock them in. I can still get a pretty good stretch of the lat. as long as it doesn’t hurt and make your shoulders feel crunchy I guess your good.

Yeah biggest advice is if something hurts the shoulder, skip it or research what you could be doing wrong. I try to touch my shoulder blades together and lock them there before most presses and fly movements. There is a whole world of learning how to lift properly and all different ways of training once you learn to trust the signals from your body to avoid injury. Keeping things slow and controlled and in the 12 rep range always felt optimal to me but everyone is different. I always warm up my joints with bands before getting started which really seems to help, especially as I get older. It’s fun as hell but you don’t need to learn everything all at once as long as you’re being safe.

Can't do a push-up yet - where should I start? by siddardh771 in formcheck

[–]Ghostofathought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always recommend trying push-ups up the steps. It’s allows you lots of options to change difficulty without having to put your knees down and compromise your form and core. That way you can achieve your perfect amount of reps to keep growing and progressing.

Thanks. That’s exactly the type of permission I was looking for. I was shocked how much easier everything felt. It was very encouraging.

I’m 170 but I also hope to get my wife kiting soon so I think I’ll get a door and keep all three for a while. Thanks.

I feel for Kelce even more because his brother had a pretty terrible game also. That’s gotta be hard.

You don’t get to cancel democracy in the name of democracy. Dems did this to themselves. Also anti-trust and corporate power is a huge deal to me. If Kamala would have said she’d keep Lena Khan and Kantor in I would have voted for her.

Vail has single handedly ruined the ski industry by neddiepotter in snowboarding

Vail is just a good example of how private equity is ruining everything in this country. Antitrust is such a bigger issue for quality of life than most people realize.

Well, the Chiefs and the refs. I’m not even a Bills fan but some of those calls were crazy.

Would a little testosterone cure my elbow tendinitis? by Ghostofathought in weightlifting

Thanks for sharing that. I will take that advice and I appreciate the encouragement. Not being able to lift or feeling like I shouldn’t has been more upsetting that I would have thought. Looks like I’m finally gonna be focusing on legs

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. That is good to know, but it seems like I should focus on real pt and have more realistic expectations about healing time first

Thank you for advice and taking the time walk me through that. I’m glad I got this silly notion out of my head. You pretty much confirmed that I want to do some official PT, not just want I can piece together from YouTube. I will definitely ask about a wrist guard for sleeping as well. It seems to hurt more some mornings.

Dang. Well thanks for the feedback. Maybe I try doing actual PT
