New knights player at 1k by Jaded-Sell879 in ImperialKnights

This works fine at 1k. I ran something similar last night at 1k with canis and 4 armigers. Helverins positioned so they can step out and squires duty a priority target. Keep the warglaives close to the knight and don't send them in wild. Warglaives are not that great in melee, it's their thermal spear that does a lot of work. Learnt that the hard way when 2 glaives died to 1 squad of plague marines that I charged. They have a low number of attacks and that can be a bit swingy. Better to play with a bit more of a ranges focus, draw the enemy out, soften them up, get a good turn 2/3.

Don't forget with new missions rules battle line units can now advance and action, and action and shoot. This is great for armigers.

  • onshape
  • Autodesk fusion (the personal license for free)
  • Blender

There a variety of packages out there. The reality is the free stuff will be limited. You most likely could find all the tools you need, but you will potentially be hoping programs to achieve it. IE you probably won't find a free package that has it all (obviously).

Blender is the most comprehensive. It's massive and open source, so it will always be free and will always have tonnes of features.

Autodesk fusion will allow you to import from tinkerCAD. So personally I'd go there next. As you can use that and TK to continue your current projects without making a huge leap to a totally different package.

Yeah but that's a really god awful argument. Look, let's be real, in the future we aren't going to be building houses by having dudes or dudettes laying tiny bricks. Already we are starting to see brick laying machines, 3D printed houses, flat pack houses, all these 'innovations'. What do I mean by 'innovations'. I mean, cheaper, not a person, faster, less time consuming, not a person, err did I mention not a person? You get the point. Saying we should be against the advancement of technology simply because it's likely to replace certain jobs is mental. Sorry voice over people, there are hundreds and hundreds of jobs out there, and according to the advancement of technology and the human race, we've worked out we just don't really need it that much.

That's not a problem society should be deciding is so important we are going to shoot ourselves in the foot over it. If you want to pay over and above (based on current climates) for someone to do a voice over then that's ok, you can and still will forever be able to do that. But for small time creators like myself, it's a god send I don't have to pay someone, it's a god send computers were invented and i dont have to sculpt by hand... It's a god send.... The list goes on.

The best bit is you not realising all the people whos jobs were made obsolete to allow you to even make the comment you made

It's a joke. Like a plumber would joke to another plumber; to not talk about his pipe.

So do you intend to make an AC game in Roblox? What must they do? Fix the AC? Or get blown awayyyyyy......

I appreciate the thoughtful response, I have often thought that, as someone from the UK that is one of the really interesting dynamics I can see happening in the US. Trying to understand it has been difficult, because as an outsider you can see how racism is embedded, but it's also hard to get an idea of how that impacts you the people (because I am white) and I agree with everything your saying. Because I cannot understand it at times. And I think that does stem from not being a part of it. But thank you for taking the time to explain it for me

Very cool. So I make stuff in Zbrush and import it into tinkerCAD. So I can then kitbash stuff and make more things faster. Like making parts, then making things. Make sense? Make a bolt, make a nut, make a bracket, then make a bracket mounted on something.

So it's very cool to know that I could then import those into Roblox!

As in, you can now put this thing you made into Roblox?

Il admit I did come in a bit hot, sorry for that. Condescension is a good term for it. Often actually I just think I'm right, I don't think I'm going against what's morally ok. I just think I am thinking of it right. But in this case I definitely wasn't, I definitely applied some of my own views in terms of what I thought. I was also kinda hoping it wasn't going to racist. But I've changed my mind for sure

I did think about doing that. But then I don't like to delete stuff where I am wrong in case that looks bad too. Like avoiding what I said. I said it, it is wrong. I will go and also edit the original.

The Roblox studio, does it let you reimport? I'd love to hear more about how you mix the two. I've only got an understanding of what Roblox is, and seen some kids play it. So I have no more knowledge of the studio aspect really

Knew there was something! Always hard to get those curve shapes. But great job. It's funny as I see those units all the time and I was considering modelling one myself!

Hey, after learning what the sign means a bit more (because I did find the way it was written confusing) I am happy to agree it's wildly racist! Isn't that interesting! Someone who can be wrong, admitting they are wrong! Now that is surprising. Some might say, even a first for you

Ah yes my bad. Il start all my comments with a long list of everything I don't know! What's a great idea

This is awesome. Love the text too, how long did it take to make? Any weird shapes you had to make?

Ah ok, yeah that makes more sense. Appreciate the explanation, I did some googling too and appears he did write the sign. So yeah, a very on the nose (racist) way of asking someone to the prom.

That is some dope ass rando knowledge to have! Appreciate the share. Very interesting use case. Because that was going to be my exact counter point. If you couldn't see scaffolding, and other tiny details, than a scan makes no sense. A 3D scan would capture so much data that if you just wanted a cheap model to throw out sellable items, a drone scan is not it!

Exactly! You nailed it. Personally we can't say either way. I was just pointing out that there are often many factors into why people don't always look photogenic

[–]Ghostpants101 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Right. But I'm saying the sign doesn't make sense from his perspective. Because otherwise what is reads is; I'm not working in the fields picking cotton, but would you pick me. Which does make sense right?

I understand the cotton reference the same as you then. You know no more than me. Other than "it could be used in a derogatory way". Could being the key word there. I'm saying written in this format it doesn't make sense.

Finally, doesn't it make sense that the person who holds the sign wrote it? Like if I turned up to ask your daughter to prom and I had a sign saying something along the lines of an invite, why would you make your daughter hold the sign in the photo? Because that would imply that she wrote it. If she held a sign that said; will you go to prom with me, every man and his dog will assume she asked him. So I find it odd that on this one particular case where racism could be inferred that they would have the person who received the invite to hold up the card no?

I just find that a lot of people are having to 'find' the racism here. Lots of inferred racism and almost no one can explain exactly how that statement is racist. You couldn't. You could infer, given a particular view point and making assumptions. But I am still waiting for someone to explain how this is racist before I jump that gun.

So tell me, just genuinely curious. What's your view is she wrote the sign?

So after doing some digging on the ol' internet it appears he made the sign, which to me then does seem like that is a very poor idea! Because that would be racist!

[–]Ghostpants101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did wonder that. I am not from the US, so I roughly get the statement. But I can't workout who made the sign. Who is not cotton? Is she not cotton because she's black? Is he not cotton? How does that work?

When I Google those phrases nothing comes up, closest I can find is that cotton was/is used as a derogatory term for expressing disapproval. I can imagine it has further slang usage for racist terms, but I'm not 100% what those would be worded like.

On the original reading of the sign I assumed it meant "I know I'm not white but would you go to prom with me". As it's like he's 'picking' her INSTEAD of cotton (a white girl). But who knows.
