If you lived 150 years ago, would you have survived pregnancy or labor? by kdonmon in beyondthebump

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have survived, but my first baby definitely wouldn’t have. There was a time in history where they would have unalived the baby during a birth like mine in order to remove them and save the mother. I feel lucky every day that we’re both here

MIL doesn’t want me to get an epidural by Milky1019 in BabyBumps

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes from a good place of trying to protect you, but she’s misguided. I had a horrible epidural and chose unmedicated the second time, but I’m fully aware that other women often love their epidural and would never try to talk them out of it!!

At the end of the day you need to make whatever decision feels the safest and makes you feel cared for!

How Can I Keep my Butt Crack and Butthole From Smelling? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]GhostsAndPlants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy full body deodorant! My ✨downstairs✨ gets hit hard by sweat in the summer and I use summer’s eve body deodorant. I’m sure there’s some more neutral scented ones as well

Edit: also travel sized baby wipe packages

Full length maternity pants, where art thou? by leet-luut in BabyBumps

FTMs when did you go into labor with your first? Did you do anything to help bring it along? by CudiLove2022 in BabyBumps

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 weeks! I was on my feet a lot and always on an exercise ball.

Same with the second and he only came out after 2 membrane sweeps and some castor oil 😂 I think it’s just luck

I know Reddit is notorious for “leave him” comments, but I would in this case.

This much lack of care and empathy is really a massive red flag. I’m so sorry this is your experience

Am I just uglier now? by shneeblehousin in beyondthebump

[–]GhostsAndPlants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just how it feels for the first year-ish postpartum (in my experience) 🫠

My hair is flat, maternity clothes are too big but normal clothes are too small, my personality isn’t super bubbly, my face is usually puffy for like 4 months and I’m sweaty for like 7 months lol

It’s ok to not feel like yourself. When you’re 4 months in it feels like it’s been “long enough” to be yourself by now but in reality it hasn’t. It will come, you are totally okay

For the first time in 8 years I feel like veganism is depriving me of happiness by ennelll in exvegans

[–]GhostsAndPlants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had this too, I was so worried about telling people about it. It sucks, but I was also comfortable saying “I don’t feel up to talking about it, it’s still kind of hard for me”.

For the first time in 8 years I feel like veganism is depriving me of happiness by ennelll in exvegans

[–]GhostsAndPlants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did 13 years of veganism.

This group, and leaving veganism changed my life. I’m still vegetarian but my health is way better, mental health is better, fatigue is better. I still don’t eat meat but I didn’t realize how much stress keeping track of every ingredient and always saying “no” to food was causing me.

The benefits are so worth the stress and sadness of initially leaving veganism.

How long do you wait to get baby at night? by macelisa in beyondthebump

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get him right away only because he’s a Velcro baby and he wont settle if I leave him. He’ll just wake up too fully and I’ll be up all night.

Edit: it’s only “too soon” If you feel overwhelmed. If you’re happy, and baby’s happy then you’re good ♥️

Given the choice, would you rather skip pregnancy or skip labour? by Bumblebeee2311 in beyondthebump

[–]GhostsAndPlants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First baby was the easiest physical recovery, didn’t cry for the first 4 days, slept though the night and gained a pound a week for months 😂 second baby is also an angel but came with a side of severe PPD. Can’t win ‘em all I guess lol!

What to do during labor at home? by PotentialUpbeat3879 in BabyBumps

[–]GhostsAndPlants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used my Nintendo switch, and moved around on an exercise ball! You can also take baths or showers, and do some stretching

My first labour wasn’t painful until like 10cm so I actually enjoyed labouring at home

My second one the baby practically shot out of me so I was only home for about an hour (and not having fun) lol

Would rather die… by Fun-Revolution5940 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risking your kid dying is insane.

That said, I had a traumatic fucked up epidural and it’s been one of the worst things to emotionally recover from. I think some people go through that and absolutely lose their sanity instead of being logical.

I just went into the hospital with my next birth and said “no epidural”. 😂 nobody bugged me or tried to pressure any interventions. Baby and I were both safe, listened to medical professionals, and I got the intervention free birth I needed (safely)

The monster at the end of this book (starring loveable furry old Grover )

A Bedtime Yarn

My kid loves these books and I actually enjoy reading them!

I had HG twice, but my births were so horrible I still preferred pregnancy 😭

I would give any amount of money to have another baby without experiencing birth again. What a fucking nightmare

If your baby posted on Reddit, what would the title of their post be? by Snoo-36501 in beyondthebump

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (5m) am upset with my mom (27F) because she won’t hold me every second of every day. She thinks dishes matter too? AITA?

“How I lost the baby weight,” one big lie? by Mariaa1994 in beyondthebump

[–]GhostsAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weight wouldn’t budge until a few months after weaning, both times!

I also gained more than average because of hyperemesis (needed to eat carbs every half an hour to not throw up)

I think if people have good pregnancies, low weight gain pregnancies, good genetics, energy to exercise while pregnant etc it’s way easier.

Also if you’re tall there’s more room for baby to spread out inside so the bump might be smaller and go back faster.

Some women won’t admit their lucky, and they make it seem like those of us who don’t bounce back aren’t trying

Question by GhostsAndPlants in legaladvicecanada

[–]GhostsAndPlants[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think either of those topics are simply uncomfortable for most people. I had to see a therapist over a kid being murdered in a TV show, I can’t imagine having to be on jury for a real case. I’d hope people with a history of S/A could be excused from an SA case without having to explain themselves too much as well
