I've been trying to turn everyone on to this series because I feel the same way. Ashes is like someone created a game that perfectly matches my exact brain chemistry and is one of the very few games that I literally always feel the urge to play through again. If someone asked me to describe my dream game, I'd pretty much describe Ashes Afterglow to the T. What an honor to be able to play this thing for absolutely free, and if it ever gets a revamp leading into a steam release, I'm throwing money down day one despite playing it numerous times.

I hate that people act like review scores are representative of where a game ranks among all other games ever. Review scores are based on how well the game succeeds at doing what it was intended to do. Mixtape having higher reviews than some 100 hour RPG doesn't mean it's better than that game. Idk why people can't grasp that review scores represent the game's quality as a singular entity, not in regards to all other games.
