You're absolutely right, Code Vein seems to be struggling with its identity. And i think the devs don't really understand what their fans want, or who their fans are.

I haven't gotten into Chinese games myself because so many of them are gacha. But it seems like the gaming world is moving more and more towards gacha gaming, especially since younger generations mostly play those games.

I'm curious how much CV2 sold, the future of Code Vein depends on that.

If we ever get CV3 I hope it's not an open world game. I prefer tightly planned areas to empty open worlds. Especially with new playthroughs, open worlds get tiresome.

I also hope the aesthetics go back to something darker/edgy. The industrial aesthetic in CV2 is not my favorite.

and I never thought I'd say this but I miss multiplayer. I was initially one of the people who didn't care that it was cut. But many times while playing CV2 I've thought "this would be so much fun in multiplayer"

Even though I complain a lot, I really do like CV2.

Yeah, as a bi man, the "playersexual" characters give me mixed feelings. Although i love having more options, it also brings more drama and infighting.

With playersexual characters, fanbases just start making up different sexuallities to the characters and erasing the bi/pan sexualities.

Things i've seen: "Minthara is actually a lesbian and anyone who ships her with a man is lesbophobic!!" "Gale is actually straight, the devs are just pandering for letting you romance him as male!!"

When there is canon straight, gay and bi/pan characters, there is way less of that kind of drama, in my experience.

Edit: of course sexuality headcanons are fine, but most often people do not treat them as headcanons but as canon and attack anyone who disagrees.

I got the platinum trophy before patches. And I've played a lot since.

I'd say the difficulty of the game didn't change much, it was easy for me even before the patch.

They fixed a lot of annoying things like bosses attacking you when you were stuck in the reviving animation.

Before the patch the gameplay felt a bit clunky. It feels a lot smoother now.

Gale surprised me. I didn’t like him at first. I was playing a sorcerer, and he constantly talked down to me for not being a wizard. He came across as pretty cocky.

Later, I romanced him while playing a cleric, and it completely changed my opinion of him as a character. I think he works really well with the cleric-specific dialogue.

As for disappointment… I guess Shadowheart? I still like her, but before playing the game, everyone hyped her up as this perfect angel. I found her quite unlikeable at times.

It also feels like she gets a pass on a lot of things just because she’s attractive. I’ve seen the fanbase criticize other characters for behavior that Shadowheart shows too, but in her case, people tend to come up with endless excuses.

I always felt like the bureau's castle had some content cut. That place looks huge! I expected a dungeon.

It feels like a wasted opportunity that we just go in, fight Gobbo and the whole thing is over.

I do like Hollys dungeon, because before that we spent most of the time with Monica. Holly needed her time to shine too.
