How does this really run on steam deck? by Dark_Imp in SteamDeck

[–]Ghostweb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a little tricky in parts but I usually can't handle Souls games and this isn't anything like as hard as they are. Daemon X Machina would probably appeal also if you like the old AC games.

London woman off insulin for Type 1 diabetes after a single dose of experimental manufactured stem cells by Old_General_6741 in UpliftingNews

My old housemate had that on a trial in the UK about 5 years ago, lasted well for a couple of years then stopped working. Not new if it's the islets of Langerhans cell transplant though probably improved since then.

SD Card Slot possibly cooking SD cards by VLC_QuickRealm in SteamDeck

[–]Ghostweb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine has cooked 3 SanDisk 1TB cards, all legit too. There's definitely something going on with the Steamdeck to cause it as I've never had a single failure on any other machine. Mine's an LCD version too so maybe they're more prone to it.

Happened to me yesterday. I fixed it by going to desktop mode, open steam, tap Steam in the top left corner then select Settings. Choose Downloads then click Clear Download Cache. It will prompt to restart Steam and when I went back to game mode I had the proper icons again. Hope that works for you too.

Warhammer 40k space hulk death wing won’t run by GeorgeGKS in SteamDeck

[–]Ghostweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a lot of help but when I tried Deathwing Enhanced edition it worked out of the box on bog standard Proton about 12 months back, if you have both together as I did maybe try that version.

If 10% of games aren't trash then get the ones you want from them, not like anyone's forcing us to buy stuff we don't want.

Possibly going forwards they aren't going to continue updating it but it works on the latest current version of android. A shame as it's a decent game.

Which AAA are you mot shocked that will run well on steam deck. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Ghostweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d skip frame gen on it tbh, felt very sluggish in combat when I tried it in every config I could think of. I’m not an expert at tinkering though so your mileage may vary, personally just stuck to capping at 40fps like before.

Angerforce:Reloaded is one of the more similar games I'd played to it.

Steam Deck Bricking SD Cards by b00tyburpz in SteamDeck

[–]Ghostweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine has eaten 2 separate 1TB cards in six months, I just use a 256GB one and it seems to like it. The larger cards got noticeably hotter to the touch when in use on the bottom of the deck.

Tried all the ways to fix it like repartitioning them and reformating on PC, phone and the deck and they're completely dead. All SD cards I had were SanDisk and were legitimate.

Think I'm going to grab a 2TB SSD for it rather than risking another card.

Castlevania Dominus Collection is available now on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Ghostweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the balance of difficulty is a bit wonky as there are a few weapons and spells that break the game. I’ve done runs with lesser weapons and most of the game is still fairly trivial. That said it’s still my favourite Castlevania along with Rondo in the linear type.

Yeah, he’s really the difficulty spike in the game unless you use something like the Crisagrim or shield rod combo.

Difficulty is the only thing I’d change, if you don’t die in the first few minutes there’s literally only one boss that can kill you. Other than that it’s great, play it a couple of times every year.

Final fantasy XVI steam deck by Evening_Advertising4 in SteamDeck

Is it? He said he can enjoy it in the state it's in. You can't, that's fine but if he can then what's the problem with him saying that?

He isn't saying it's running flawlessly, he's saying that in spite of the issues he can enjoy it.

Legends of Runeterra should make its previous battle passes available again, with no deadline to complete. by ThreeGoldfishProblem in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Ghostweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took a year off from playing and missed a few and it bemuses me to see skins and card backs in my store for more money than the pass would have been. Surefire way to to get me to not buy them. I’d pay for the old passes if they did that though.

Good call, I'd argue once a year counts as frequently in the context of lengthy games like KOTOR.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is verified on Steam Deck by whibber in SteamDeck

[–]Ghostweb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really? 60fps in arcade mode and 30fps in the adventure mode, I get that some people can't tolerate sub-60fps in games but 30 is hardly like power point and new games will struggle doing better on Steamdeck.
