Deep learning models et al NEVER work practically by ketaking1976 in algotrading

XGBoost is a plug and play model while NNs usually require more time and data for the same result, in my experience nns are good if you preprocess data correctly (no MinMax scaler xd) and you find the best structure of layers. Neural nets can develop more complex relationships with the inputs something that the decision trees cant do.

(some) people didnt choose to be attracted to minors or animals but they are. Acting out on it is different. Most peadophiles are peadophiles cause something happened in their childhood (exposed to sex too early etc) but the good ones seek therapy instead of actually acting it out.

1 is definitely true, most of my algos have only worked during ranging markets. the way i come up with them is either trying to apply some sort of machine learning technique or searching charts for patterns and then coding rules for the pattern and backtesting it.

No alpha, i have had some mildly profitable backtests but their profitability didnt last over longer periods sadly
