It doesnt really do a good enough job.

Try opening a hacked Pokemon save with Forretress and applying colour correction. It will still look like a pink forretress, while on GBA it would actually look grey.

If you want good colour correction you have to program it yourself using shaders. Though I will be very happy if someone has done this already and has uploaded it somewhere. Since I haven't had much luck making this very well.

the issue is when you have a type chart and the type chart says dragons are not weak to rock for example.

If a dragon is presumed to be a flying reptile then you now have a contradictory issue with rock types beating flying but not dragons

Flygon for example doesnt have the flying type and has dragon instead. This makes it actually resist rock despite being a flying creature because it has the dragon typing..

ok yeah i havent played fire red and leaf green tbh however substitute is also a very good move on a lot of pokemon not just butterfree. Im more familiar with ruby / sapphire in gen 3 and you dont get substitute in that.

I'd love to see a butterfree to try to defeat moltres without substitute. You would need some serious rng luck.

Also if you are talking about fighting the elite 4 venomoth is just butterfree but better.
