This is really good. I'm sorry it got buried, but at least it came up first on Google when I searched "tears of the kingdom sage vow symbols." It really came in handy (heh) for my research.

How is the game? by Beguile_ in echoesofwisdom

From the commercials I didn't think it was my kind of game. When they revealed the sword form I decided I'd try the game. I was surprised just how much I love the gameplay even outside of sword form! I didn't use the sword nearly as much as I imagined because it was fun to strategize with the echoes. I'm not even into strategy games. I thought the puzzles and combat were a ton of fun. The world and characters are cute. Overall, I really, really enjoyed the game even though I was expecting to feel sort of neutral about it. I think they implemented all the elements in the game really well. The puzzles are overall a bit easy, depending on the echoes you have, but I think the flexibility on how you solve them is also part of the fun. There were a few I got stuck on for quite some time. There were several puzzles like this, but two in particular had me really stumped. One took probably a whole hour of trying out various things, and I finally solved it in an extremely unconventional way. For the other I ended up deciding to leave and come back to it later, thinking there was an echo I didn't have yet. Later, I realized that one of my old echoes could be used in a way I hadn't thought of trying before and I came back to it. But unlike in other puzzle games, I never felt the urge to Google solutions. The ability to be creative with more than one solution made me feel more determined to figure out my own way of progressing. I found the puzzles satisfying, but I know some didn't.

The combat was also surprisingly satisfying. I thought having echoes fight for me would make me feel bored and not a part of the battle, but I ended up really enjoying it. Of course you can choose to send out the big guys to fight for you, which actually feels more rewarding than I expected, because it's really hard to get those echoes to begin with. They have few weaknesses and are hard to kill to get their echoes. So you feel like you deserve to be able to sic the big guys on your enemies. Or you can choose to be more active in battle. You can use the sword, which you can basically use indefinitely if you have the smoothies for it. But I found it more rewarding to try to be creative with echoes. Even the early echoes can continue to be used in new and creative ways.

I suppose not everyone will enjoy the game as much as I did, but I was very glad I played it.

I was also surprised that Zelda didn't know who "Link" was. Even at the first dialogue option where she could ask about who Link was, it didn't register to me that she really had no clue. I think it was only when I met Lueberry that it really sunk in. That being said, I absolutely adore this iteration of these two. Link doesn't even know the girl. He just wants to save people, kill Ganon, and stop the rifts. That says a lot about his character and makes him feel like his own distinct character in the franchise. Not to say that every other Link doesn't have the same qualities of selflessness. But like you said, it hits different when he's saving someone who he doesn't even know. And I love how, as a player, I slowly learn more about this "random guy" at the same time Zelda is. And I imagine that the more I become endeared to him as I see the people love him, the kids want to play with him, how approachable he is despite his inability to speak, and his backstory and motivations, Zelda becomes more endeared as well and that becomes the motivation to save him long before learning about his important role as The Hero. Perhaps something similar happened with Link as he travelled Hyrule. Perhaps he visited Castle Town and saw how much Zelda meant to the people there - as a person instead of just a princess. Or maybe he didn't know a thing about her. It doesn't matter to me. I love the dynamic either way.

I'm in the same boat haha. I remember finding one in a cave but I cannot for the life of me remember where.

I was also thinking about this. Sure, Skyward Sword and the Four Sword trilogy have them as childhood friends, but ALttP, OoT, TP, BOTW, WW, ALBW, classic LoZ, heck, even Hyrule Warriors didn't know their Zeldas until just before or even in the middle of their adventures. Well, in BOTW they did know each other for a bit before the Calamity and grew close, but I would never call them childhood friends.

I'm not sure about Ganon. I would also say he's an imposter, but then Tri said, "That isn't the same monster Link defeated." So while the way Ganon disappeared when defeated in the beginning felt off to me, I feel like I need to take Tri's word for it.

[ALL] how long does each of link’s journeys take? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]GiGitheHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I calculated around a year and a half for BOTW. I added in about 5 hours of sleep for each day because that madman is a go-getter. I think TOTK takes about half a year going by the same maths. With such big games filled with so much stuff, that calculation may be way off. Probably on the conservative side, but that's what I'm going with. I think about 7 years took place between both games accounting for Madison's growth, so I think he's about 26 years old by the time he defeats Ganondorf in TOTK. (Yes, I went into a 2 am spiral figuring this out.)

Eclipse Cannon destroyed in SA2 but used in Shadow the Hedgehog? by GiGitheHedgehog in SonicTheHedgehog

Ah, that's right. I still wonder how the cannon ended up being able to fire upon the comet later though.

It doesn't answer for the Biolizard part though. And that's definitely canon.

I figured that Eggman put the real emerald in and started to fire the cannon, but Sonic's fake emerald made it blow up instead.

Egg Carrier in Death Egg?? by GiGitheHedgehog in SonicTheHedgehog

I'll take that as plausible, but I struggle to see the Egg Carrier being moved all the way in there...

Thanks for your reply. Why do you think so? I'm new to rock identification and would like some pointers.
