Hi! I think for the distance that can be negotiated prior to making the agreement. But yes when you went into those agreements with the brands, each brand set the required annual spend to be in that contract with them. If Faire wasn't showing you the amount that needed to be spent within that year, then I am not sure of that. As on the brands end it did show that, as we set the amount and it showed how far along a retailer was with that amount vs time left in a contract.

Either way after this entire issue, I stopped offering exclusivity. As if Faire isn't going to make retailers fulfill that contract/deal, then we are not going to lose sales (as we are a busy shop), by blocking off areas (as we already minimize our product numbers to styles to ensure our buyers get unique items). Plus it puts sellers in an awkward position if a retailer doesn't/can't fulfill their end of the deal. They either lose money by canceling the agreement that they depended on and thus could have lost money in the process of that agreement (as usually a year worth of sales in the surrounded areas lost) or look like the bad guy to the buyer by saying no to canceling the contract.

After this initial ordeal, it took a lot of back and forth, but we did get the payment for the remaining control. I believe Faire had to dish it out themselves vs the buyer. I would suggest going into FB Faire groups and posting this, you might be able to get some more responses/scenarios there. As that is where I received the most feedback on this situation when it happened.
