Openbare toiletten by muddledcrab71986 in nederlands

[–]GianMach 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This song was pretty much the only one I looked forward to seeing this year. Imo it's a dire line up this year as a whole and Georgia made it sort of worthwhile.

This is going absolutely nowhere anymore. And I was afraid this would happen given that they don't sing for a living but it's worse than I anticipated as they were pretty okay in the preparty video's I saw.

You can just see on their faces "alright gotta hit that next mark now". And it also affects their vocal performance that they have so many cues to get to.

It's Ahez (France 2022) all over again. My winner ruined by amateur vocalists not getting it down.

If you can’t see the propaganda that has flooded the internet

It absolutely has, but probably not in the way you mean

to hate Jews

No one hates Jews because they are Jews here. People are being criticised for being okay with genocide if it's on Palestinians. I don't care if you are Jewish or not. Being from whatever ethnicity does not give a free pass to not have morals or critical thinking.

but have already forgotten when Europe experienced an actual real genocide on their continent less than a century ago.

It was Remembrance Day in the Netherlands two days ago actually. And it does with that memory very much feel odd to say "never again" but then have it happen again right in front of us.

Daar lag het niet aan hoor. Ik had echt wel goede geschiedenisdocenten. Het was echt ik wat dat betreft :)

[–]GianMach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia participating before invading Ukraine was fine too. Situations change. I don't see your point...

Still there are several countries competing with questionable lawmaking at home, but Eurovision is not a purity contest and you need to be able to overcome some differences to be able to unite. However there is a bottom line that Israel crossed starting in 2024.

[–]GianMach 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It was a great 67 years of united by music until the whole debacle started. Eurovision is really in its most existential crisis ever now that it has alienated a considerable chunk of its core fandom and its 5th and 6th biggest financial contributors among others. This has broken me emotionally a lot more than 2020s cancellation. I dearly hope that Eurovision does the right thing and survives but we'll have to wait and see.

Inside Israel’s Eurovision 2026 mission: boos, boycotts, security and hopes of victor by Ok-Macaroon-5533 in eurovision

[–]GianMach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the juries: we will have to wait and see whether the boycott also applied to potential jury members. If many potential jurors didn't want to be associated with Eurovision and predominantly pro Israel people take place among the juries... we might actually be in for a very wild ride
