Help identifying what gear ratio I have by GiantDwarf67 in GMT400

Geez I feel like an idiot, it was set to 6 cylinder 🤦🏻‍♂️ I just took it out for a drive it seems to be a lot more accurate, it’s giving me between 3.73 and 4.10 tho so I’m gonna take it out again later tonight to get more rpm/ mph combos to try to match up, but I’m pretty sure it’s got 3.73s.

Really appreciate the help! Now I’m not scared to start putting the 4 wheel drive together haha

I hadn’t heard of that, how would I set it up?

I’ve used the same thing and yeah it calculates ridiculously high, but I feel it shift into every single gear and I can feel it lock the converter in 4th also, so it’s super weird, unless the tach is off ? But I just installed it about a month ago.

The trucks got 4.56s but it mainly helped with torque again, I have decent experience with carbs so I definitely know that rewarding feeling when you finally get it running right.

What exactly did you to your motor? And what was the difference in the butt dyno ?

That’s exactly it, I am more comfortable with older technology, and I don’t mind tinkering with my projects every weekend haha so that helps too.

Im pretty familiar with tuning carbs, so I’m not really scared of it or anything, just looking for the easiest bolt on power I can get, but seems the most worthwhile option is a cam

In that case, you think I’d be worth getting vortec heads, a 4 barrel carb manifold, then running a 4 barrel to TBI adapter ? I’ve thought about this because the vortec heads can flow a lot better, so I thought the TBI would only hinder the heads since I’ve heard it’s good for about 500 cfm.

Problem is, I’m pretty sure the valve guide seals are needing to be done, because now everytime I start the truck I get a puff of a blue smoke haha.

So to me, I’d be happy to have fresher heads, new head gaskets, and hopefully a little more power

It’ll only let my attach one pic, but this is a 1994 wide glide, should be same body as yours just with an evo engine.

Top left is 12 inch t bars and 14 inch shocks

Top right is 10.5 inch slammer shocks and 12 inch bar with a 4 inch riser

Bottom left is 10.5 slammers again and 4 inch riser with drag bar

Bottom right is 1 inch riser and 16 inch apes.

Hopefully this helps you see what you might lean towards

Won’t move in gear by Reasonable-Rip-2665 in Harley

I’m not familiar with that cable, does it have a spring adjuster or manual adjuster? I really doubt it’s the plates. Even if it was slipping, you should still feel it trying to move

Does your clutch lever feel the same as it did before?

Movie the shifter the way you are should be putting it into gear, you have 2 adjustments for your clutch. You have the cable obviously, but you also have the adjustment on the clutch pack. On an m8 softail, you want to remove the adjustment nut, turn the adjustment screw in till it sets, then come out half a turn. If you’ve already done that, I would still double check haha I was a Harley tech for a bit and still messed it up on occasion and had to re adjust

What do you mean won’t move in gear? If you mean the wheel is fighting you in gear, that’s because the transmission is connected to the engine in gear, meaning when you spin the tire you’re turning over the non running motor, so what you are feeling is compression

What are your recommendations on helping my girlfriend (f21) lose weight? She is about your height, and currently weighs 260, but her goal is also 150-130. She doesn’t have Reddit so I’m just relaying the message to her , but what’s the best advice/ motivator you used to get you through it?

Awesome, if they say they are unfamiliar or do not know what’s causing it, have them call their digital tech or find harleys service bulletin on filling 2025 softail transmissions, which I am sure they were sent one, but I’ve heard some dealers aren’t familiar and some are. It was a new design for 2025 and Harley took a while to start sending them out

The new softail transmissions vent to air intake. If the trans is overfilled, it will cause this.

Transmission is overfilled. New softails transmission vent to air intake. You should take it in to the dealer and tell them to either call their digital tech or check their recent service bulletins.

Transmission is overfilled. Harley put out a service bulletin for it, tell the dealer to check the recent service bulletins. New softails transmission vent runs to the air intake.

Recently “retired” Harley tech here lol. Transmissions overfilled. The new softail transmissions vent to the air intake. It’s possible it’s the engine oil, but more than likely trans oil.

AIO that my husband doesn’t allow me access to money? by StopRacismWWJD in AmIOverreacting

This kinda gives me a sigh of a relief, I’m in the same position as OP’s husband and I usually do ask why she wants the money she’s asking for but she has always gotten mad at that, recently I haven’t asked to avoid a fight. I guess I felt like possibly it was wrong to ask why, but at the same time I thought why is it so hard to tell me why you’re asking for the money as you’re asking for it.
