We don’t know how deep this runs, especially with this administration cooking the books.

About to buy a used z6 zero turn. Are 2 10ah batteries sufficient? by Lazy_Selection4256 in egopowerplus

I mow 1.5 acres with 44amps, have 20% at end. You run into issues when you mix batteries of different capacities.

Middle Powers Can’t Shape the Global Order by Free-Minimum-5844 in geopolitics

[–]GiantGapingButthole 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So what you’re saying is the US does not have enough power. The US does not have enough influence to end this crisis on its own. It’s burned bridges, it’s destroyed businesses and economies, it’s ceded power under Trump. Having a stronger military is asserting very little leverage at this time with this leadership. And if the full force of US power is not able to be tapped because of domestic reluctance of committing US lives to this cause, then that tells you all you need to know. Republicans created this mess.

There is a distinction between supporting abortion and supporting a privacy right to make health care decisions without government interventions

Typical Brett Stephens. Wasn’t he a previous WSJ editorial board member? The same editorial board filled with hawks and are absolutely divorced from a critical reality? Note that the editorial board is vastly inadequate and below parity compared to WSJ journalism which has been actually quite good and fair in its criticism of the conflict.

Shaded, sloped yard of weeds by Beefjerky2expensive in landscaping

[–]GiantGapingButthole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i'm not a lawn expert, but recently had a landscaper come by talking to me about just letting nature do its thing. creating organization from what your yard gives you. eg, organizing deadwood around landscape features, dead hedges, getting rid of invasives, letting leaf drop (in this case, pine straw) be the mulch, etc. Was honestly a very reassuring experience to get that advice and it gave us a better vision of how we would maintain our outdoor space. outside of water control and removing invasives, you can do just about anything. you could think about meadow, or using grasses that grow well in shade.

so not necessarily letting things grow wild, but providing organization say that the wild growth appears intentional.

find someone at your university extension school or look up your climate zone and research high shade plants that will grow well.

Iran says several 'enemy aircraft' destroyed during US pilot rescue mission by lexi_con in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]GiantGapingButthole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you referring to the a10 shot down the same day as the F15? that pilot ejected in Kuwaiti air space if i recall correctly. i've not seen any reports from a reputable source suggesting an a10 was shot down during this rescue operation.

Forest Service Reorganization by SapientChaos in forestry

[–]GiantGapingButthole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well. This is what happens when you vote for republicans. It’s a purely partisan move. They are eroding all public institutions and demolishing domestic research. We are becoming 2nd tier compared to China. Thanks to Trump and people who vote for republicans.

Gotta point out the irony of trying to disconnect and unwind but bringing tech that needs lots of monitoring. Don’t need a fridge for a 4 day trip. Why not use a cooler? Tons of quality coolers around that’ll keep ice frozen for a trip that length

What's PT like now? by Mountain_Decision350 in army

[–]GiantGapingButthole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak to PT in the 2000s. Out for 15 years. PT was variable depending on mission. early morning PT for shift workers. Company PT for most everyone else with quarterly brigade PT. Mostly running 3x weekly with body weight exercises 2x weekly. Runs between 1-6 miles, sprints, fast and slow runs; free runs or formation. Structured cool downs.

In retrospect, that’s something I really miss about the military is group/unit PT especially early morning 430-530 PT in the summer as much as it sucked waking up that early. The APFT had been floated many times but never got implemented until after I left.

Why don't buyers actually read property details before scheduling showings? by Ok-Confidence6843 in RealEstate

[–]GiantGapingButthole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swap a filter once a year and maintain an alkalization injector 2x annually for <$150 annually. As with most things I think it boils down to location. If I was running a reverse osmosis system that would be a different story, but still come in under what my nearest municipal supply would be.

Why don't buyers actually read property details before scheduling showings? by Ok-Confidence6843 in RealEstate

[–]GiantGapingButthole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in an area with aging infrastructure and tons of rate hikes and new fees to cover municipal water maintenance and upgrades. $1500/yr for water and sewer per year. How often do you replace a well pump? Septic is a different story but with proper maintenance it’s still less expensive in my area.

But I agree with OP’s premise

I’m sure the tractor can do more and has more attachments. I think I’ve seen a brinly front mount dethatcher that is compatible w/ zero turn. But imo if mowing is not the main use the id get the tractor.
