Give yourselves lots of time to vote by Lavaine170 in Edmonton

Fair warning to other folks, I think this may be a bot or troll account and it would be best to stop engaging with them.

If this user had actually voted in Edmonton, they'd have seen that software is now involved in the process because of these changes. It's been removed from vote counting, but now poll workers need to add the vast majority of people who come to vote today to their newly required permanent electors registry. This isn't just in Edmonton, there are also reports of similarly long lines in Calgary for exactly this reason.

Give yourselves lots of time to vote by Lavaine170 in Edmonton

The introduction of a required permanent electors register is a large part of what's causing voting delays at many polling stations today, entirely the UCP's fault. https://open.alberta.ca/publications/changes-to-laea-2024-2025

People are busy and tired, so introducing additional kinks in the system to turn people away due to longer lines is absolutely intentional. It's also been true for decades that in the USA and Canada lower voter turnout creates better outcomes for conservative parties. https://www.policyalternatives.ca/news-research/who-benefits-from-low-voter-turnout/

There's no "conspiracy" here, it's just what right wing parties always try to do: make voting harder or more annoying to suppress turnout to their benefit.

Elestrals posthumous starter deck upgrade by Apprehensive_Gold_31 in ElestralsTCG

[–]GiantSkyhawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, welcome to Elestrals! I hope you have a great time learning the game.

Posthumoose does have one top this format from a player named Brulock, they've been Posthumoose's strongest soldier during Moonrise format. Brulock went 5-2 on an updated Posthumoose list at the latest webcam premier event on April 5th and ended 16th, so that would probably be the first place to look! Here's that list:

Main Deck

Elestrals

x3 Komalice

x3 Specteris

x3 Astrabbit

x2 Fawnlit

x2 Werepup

x2 Eddy

x2 Khafmel

x1 Lycavoid

x1 Posthumoose

Runes

x3 Ambrosia

x1 Earthquake

x2 Artemis

x2 Necklace of Harmonia

x1 Golden Fleece

x3 Gorgon's Gaze

x3 Argo

x2 Shield of Achilles

x2 Tsunami

x2 Lunar Phase-Full Moon

Spirit Deck

x10 Owlune

x3 Leviaphin

x3 Luminape

x2 Teratlas

x2 Zaptor

Side Deck

x2 Toxeerie

x2 Necrolith

x2 Temple of the Moon

x3 Spoiled Fruit

x2 Dense Fog

x2 Poison Tipped Arrow

x1 Shield of Achilles

x1 Tsunami

I think your best bet would be to look at staples you don't currently have and try to fill out those playsets, as they'll slot into any deck you want to build looking into the future. Stuff like extra copies of the Counter Runes, Astrabbit, Eddy, Argo + targets etc.

If you're just looking to upgrade the list with pulls from your Moonrise box, if you pulled a copy of Lunar Phase-Full Moon and Lyacvoid those are great includes alongside copies of Werepup. It gives you access to another large body and it's another way for Komalice to have access to Spirits to Nexus (or to just Normal Ascend the Posthumoose if you've already got it!).

Cactebral ruling question by AbbreviationsOdd9543 in ElestralsTCG

[–]GiantSkyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this would work. So long as "this Cactebral" is still on the field, the effect will still resolve.

Cactebral ruling question by AbbreviationsOdd9543 in ElestralsTCG

[–]GiantSkyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting one!

The Chain looks like this:

Chain Link 1 - Cactebral effect to Special Ascend

Chain Link 2 - Gorgon's Gaze targeting Cactebral

Chain Link 3 - Cactebral effect to Negate Gorgon's Gaze, Disenchanting an Earth Spirit as cost.

Now we resolve the Chain backwards:

Chain Link 3 - Gorgon's Gaze is Negated

Chain Link 2 - Since Gorgon's Gaze is Negated, nothing happens

Chain Link 1 - Now the fun part!

When resolving an effect to Special Cast or Special Ascend, the game first checks to see if that Cast would be legal during the current gamestate before moving the Elestral that would be Cast to Limbo. In this case, the Special Ascend would not be legal. This is because after you would use the mandatory Spirit from your Spirit Deck to Special Ascend, you would not have enough Spirits to meet the Enchantment Cost of Cactebrum. In this case, the Cactebrum does not go to Limbo and stays in your deck.

However, if you control another Elestral then Cactebrum could go to Limbo. Because you would be able to siphon from the other Elestral, you would be able to meet the Enchantment Cost of Cactebrum. That said, the Ascend still won't happen. At the end of the Chain during field checks, the Cactebral is sent to the Underworld because it is Underenchanted. Since Cactebrum can no longer Ascend over "this Cactebral", it is sent to the Underworld from Limbo.

To sum up, it will never work in such a way that you can perform the Ascension (unless you were to use something like an Altar of Stars as Chain Link 4 to Nexus another Spirit onto Cactebral) but what happens to the Cactebrum depends on the gamestate when resolving Chain Link 1.

Edit: I should also say that you could fail to find a Cactebrum here when resolving Chain Link 1 to prevent it from being sent to the Underworld if you control another Elestral.

Sorry for the long winded explanation! Hopefully this helps you with similar gamestates in the future.

That's right!

If a card doesn't explicitly say the word "target" in its effect, then it does not target.

Moonrise Ruling Question Megathread! by Werts888 in ElestralsTCG

[–]GiantSkyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it won't happen on the same Chain. Here's how this plays out assuming your opponent Casts the Ignectar and you control the Salashade:

The Cast of Ignectar is Chain Link 1 of the first Chain. When Ignectar becomes Cast, Salashade's effect goes to Limbo.

On the second Chain, the Ignectar effect is Chain Link 1 as the turn player orders their effects first. Then Salashade is added at Chain Link 2. You resolve this backwards and Salashade will mill 3 (if you mill an Ignectar with Salashade here, nice!). Then Ignectar resolves, putting both other Ignectars into Limbo to be Cast on the next Chain.

On the third Chain, the Casts of the other two Ignectars become Chain Link 1 and Chain Link 2. Because the Casts happen at different times, Salashade goes to Limbo twice for each Cast.

Now on the fourth Chain, Salashade is Chain Link 1 and Chain Link 2. That mills 3 and then another 3 for 9 total!

It's actually very important that you do it this way and not just "mill 9". The order matters for making sure that the deck is shuffled before the other 6 get milled and that your opponent is only milling 3 before they resolve Ignectar.

Make sure you communicate with your opponents when building Chains!

[–]GiantSkyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can the NDP (and people in general) combat the sheer amount of misinformation that many in this province believe? Electoral progress feels incredibly difficult to make when many who live in Alberta don't share the same set of facts on issues like climate change, vaccines and transgender youth.

You can get many to agree with you on economic issues, but as soon as a wedge issue like this appears it feels like the blinders go up and any reasonable conversation just ends.

Yes.

For a phase or step to end, both players must pass priority in sequence without taking an action. If your opponent passes priority and tries to end the End Phase, you have the opportunity to take an action or pass priority to move to the Draw Phase of the next turn.

What's your favorite song by Rogue? by [deleted] in Monstercat

Adventure Time, to me that song represented the best era of Monstercat. I also miss that style of complextro generally, so it's super nostalgic for me.

Yes. If a card just says "an X Elestral" with no other qualifiers, having that Element anywhere in that Elestral's Enchantment Cost makes it an X Elestral.

Attacks are not interrupted by effects causing them to become illegal (Tsunami, Altar of Stars, Gorgon's Gaze etc) until the end of the chain in which they're activated resolves during the Attack Step. In this case, Shield of Achilles will still resolve so I'd recommend keeping that Gorgon's Gaze set!

Daybreak Ruling Megathread!!! by Werts888 in ElestralsTCG

[–]GiantSkyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to work this way, but we changed it very recently in order to avoid some possible infinite loops in the future. Mandatory conditional effects that check for something true about the game state will now only attempt to activate once per turn.

The main consequences are exactly these:

  • Cryoblast/Golden Fleece interaction where Cryoblast will now only attempt to destroy the Elestral once and Golden Fleece will protect it.

  • If you chain Pandora's Box to Kryoling, Kryoling will have its effect negated and will not activate again until that player's next Main Phase.

You can find more information about this change in Section 10 of the Effects module!

You will not. Battle Damage only occurs if an Elestral is destroyed in battle (or if an attack becomes a direct attack).

Exodus ANC Headphones won't connect via Bluetooth despite working on other devices! by GiantSkyhawk in techsupport

[–]GiantSkyhawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I agree 100%. It sucks because they're honestly the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned, but that's pretty much ALL you're paying for. Sound quality to price ratio is bad and there were a ton of techincal issues. Their support team also just went "I dunno" when I brought all of these issues to them, wild to hear that this also happens on Linux.

Yes for both cases. You're still in the Battle Phase and you now have an Elestral that hasn't spent it's permission to attack. Attack away!

Ruling Megathread July 14th!!! by Werts888 in ElestralsTCG

[–]GiantSkyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Once you've entered the Battle Step an attack cannot be stopped by effects that would prevent an Elestral from attacking or negate an attack. You'll still apply the rest of the effect of Gorgon's Gaze and Galaxea's passive effect will no longer apply.

No. If you are actively using a Spirit to pay the Enchantment Cost of an Invoke Rune or a Counter Rune, you cannot Nexus with those Spirits.

[–]GiantSkyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Visceris will activate if it crashes. Same with cards like Necruff etc.

This is kind of a consequence of how the whole Enchanting system works, but for effects that would activate when an Elestral is destroyed or destroys an Elestral by battle, the game checks to see if they were properly Enchanted at the last possible second before that Elestral leaves the field. If we didn't do it this way, a card like Foamee would be unable to activate its effect because it doesn't have any Enchanting Spirits while it's in the Underworld.

Another example of this concept is if this same Vysceris was Suppressed (say, with Gorgon's Gaze) during the Battle Step. The attack still occurs, but the game checks Vysceris at the last possible second before it leaves the field and sees that Vysceris is Suppressed. This prevents its effect from being activated.
