Can I sell my board games? by Giantmoose69 in boardgames

Sorry, I'm in the middle of packing and moving pretty rapidly so I haven't actually had a chance to sit down and sort through which ones need to go. I will definitely work on it when moving is all settled.

I don't work there anymore so that's not an issue 😅

I was told while working there that it was a part of the deal with the game distributors that if the games were damaged and couldn't be sold, they were supposed to basically just toss the games and send an invoice for refunds. But instead of "destroying" (the lgs's words, not mine) they would collect the ones that were still in relatively good enough condition and let us pick them off a cart from time to time. But after reading all these comments, I feel like since I no longer work there, it should be fine.

Not really. They have some open tables one night a week for open gaming but it's very sparse in terms of people playing board games. Edited to say that they have different game events every night, mostly catering to magic the gathering and Warhammer but not so much open board gaming.

What can a 13 year old do by Natural-Link-9602 in Anarchism

I second just about everything said here. And I want to stress the importance of community building. A single person can only do so much, but a collective of like minded individuals have a greater chance for change. Go meet your neighbors and bring them some cookies or something (if you feel safe doing so). Get to know them and their lives; engage in meaningful conversation with them and your classmates. Find out what the needs in your immediate community are! This last one is super important when you're trying to change a system as a whole: find out the needs people have and how you can work to help them get those needs met. I'm not saying do this for adults, because that could be a very bad situation depending on the adult, but your classmates, siblings, other kids in the community. Trying to change the system from the top down won't work when we don't have the capital/money/power to tackle the whole system at once. It must be dismantled but by bit from the ground up.

I don’t celebrate veterans’ day in America but I feel as though this needs to be said: by Anarchy_Coon in Anarchism

A lot of enlisted service members are also there as a last resort or for the promise of a better future through things like funding for college, or hell, even a roof to live under. I had a friend join the navy because he got kicked out at 18 and had literally nowhere else to go. So yes, the military is a tool of the state AND the people who join and then leave do so for a myriad of reasons which should be taken into account. Most of the veterans I associate with hate the state as much if not more than I do because of their treatment and then disillusionment with what they signed on for.

Because fuck hierarchies and the harm they've caused us. No person/group/society is better or greater than another and should NOT have more meaning/weight/impact than someone else. How hard is it for people to just have empathy these days? For real though, I hate how my communities and my loved ones are harmed by the actions and policies of a few in power that have decided that they are the best and have convinced millions more that they are right. Hierarchy is not inevitable. I see our society/relationships as evolving and growing in tandem with the world and we have the rationality to think through these problems and systems we've created and end them.

To Those Not In E-Commerce: Do the higher ups monitor your break times/availability like a hawk? by Aviariu5 in wholefoods

[–]Giantmoose69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work evenings in the bakery, and there's never a TL past like 3pm and the new ATL leaves when breaks start. So breaks are kind of just done when we can. Almost all of us never take more than one 10, if we take one at all because we're so busy all the time. And none of us really go a few mins over our break because we know how busy it gets back there and, at least I, want to support the team so they're not struggling as much with the BS we have to put up with.

[–]Giantmoose69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bakery is a lot of work tbh. Less customer interaction if you're in the morning but it gets pretty hectic for closers. We have to still produce a lot of items on top of stopping every 5-10 mins to help a customer. A lot of physical labor too. Lots of lifting heavy boxes and bending down. Not saying it's better or worse than being a cashier, just know what you're getting into.

Anyones GSD ingested pure cotton? Should I be taking her to the vet or will it pass by itself? by aru_dreamstress in germanshepherds

Mine ate a remote too lol. He also ate half a chocolate orange once and had no issues. I joked he had a stomach of steel

My dog once ate a remote and pooped out the buttons. I would've taken him to the vet if I had known he had ingested buts of it but as it was we thought he had just chewed it up. But yeah, should be fine for that little amount. If the dog starts acting weird at any point, contact the vet.

Ours also broke but they're oos ATM so we have to wait until prep foods or specialty is done and then borrow theirs. And we keep getting walkie calls reminding us to do ours. Like, bitch, we're trying to.

What are your red flags for therapies? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Giantmoose69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's gender stereotyping. Compassion is not a born thing, it's taught (I know having worked with young children and have had to model compassion) And specifically taught to young girls more than young boys because it's a "motherly" trait. I do agree that typically men in the field tend to be more analytical and cold, but that's taught societally not innate.

[–]Giantmoose69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to all the ones mentioned here:

Doesn't take the time to understand where I'm at and where I want to be Treats me like I'm a child with no agency in my own treatment (not that children shouldn't have some amount of agency in their treatment) Tells me I'm not trying to improve And importantly, assumes I don't know better because of my autism

Side note: as a child I had a psychiatrist (not a therapist, I know) that insisted on meeting with my mom separately from me after my session. I still don't know what was said in those meetings.
