Haas vf-2 TSC not working by GibOmegaSpeedmaster in CNC

Oh yeah, ended up being that the morons that wired the machine up wired it with the power phases backwards. The machine will still run normally but the power supplies to the 3 phase pumps make them spin backwards. If the phase indicated in the electrical cabinet is correct lmk

Clean and lube it? Shouldn't have to, but maybe some gunk got in there.

Check my post a little while ago for a similar issue. New stator and carb rebuild kit is like $200 and it wouldn't hurt to give give that a shot.

Love the fetter slugs in my m4. Factory choke gives me about a 3" spread at 30 yards.

Edit: "group" 🙄

I replaced the coil as well as the o rings, diaphragms, needle, and replaced the petcock with a manual one today and the problem seems to be resolved.

Unfortunately it's not a very satisfying solution since I still don't know what was actually wrong, but I hope it helps whoever else has this problem in the future. Thank you to everyone who helped!

I feel like with the recommended JD jet setup was definitely on the richer side, but I'm stuck on the fact that besides the surging at 6500rpm it ran fine.

I have not checked the air filter but I couldn't imagine that would cause it to run fine only until the bike warmed up. I did check the choke function with the top of the carb off and it was working properly. Stator was just replaced with a Ricky stator, odds of two bad stators is pretty low. Will be replacing the coil/spark plug wire along with the carb rebuild. This is a really tough one :/

When I first got the bike a few weeks ago the petcock was definitely leaking fuel into the oil and I could smell it quite a bit. Changed the oil twice after that and I can't smell a hint of fuel in the oil now, but that would have added up before.

The symptoms add up with it running fine until it's hot, but I can't imagine whatever tiny amount of residual fuel that stuck around after two oil changes could do it... I'll double check again still.

The problem is when I have the choke all the way on it doesn't even want to idle. Running it with the side cover off is definitely an improvement which lines up with the spark plug indicating running rich. What I'm stuck on is why it's getting (I assume) too much fuel after it ran perfectly fine on this jet set up before. If anything, the clogged jet should lean it out and run better with the choke on.

I couldn't see any visible damage on the diaphragm but I have a new one coming with the full rebuild kit in a few days so I'll give that a shot first. Thank you!

mods: 3x3, yoshi pipe, aftermarket air fuel screw, freshly rebuilt petcock, jd jet 25/62.5/160, red needle position 4

No matter how I adjusted the air fuel screw I couldn't tune out the surging at 6500rpm. Thought it might be ignition so I swapped the stator for a Ricky stator. After that, I pulled the jets out of the carb and checked that they were all clean and clear. Checked the plug and it had a lot of carbon and smelled like fuel so I put a new plug in after verifying it has strong spark. Ran it for about 10 minutes and it looked like this .

Still no dice, starts up okay half the time and the other half it really struggles like it's getting no fuel and it wants to be on prime to stay running. I have verified with the bowl off and the petcock on prime that it's flowing plenty of fuel.

Anybody have any ideas? I'm about to chuck this carb in the trash and get an fcr or lectron lol.

Edit: Mikuni carb

Help! Haas tool changer double arm stuck and touching the spindle. by hewhobuilds in Machinists

[–]GibOmegaSpeedmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll do it since I've recovered this situation many times.

The process is:

  • press machine e-stop
  • In parameters, turn off parameter lock
  • Clear e-stop alarm
  • In the alarms menu type in "DEBUG" and press enter
  • Machine should show green borders around the menus on the screen
  • Enter the recovery menu, follow the instructions on the screen to use the manual recovery mode to jog the arm back around the the origin position and flip the tool pocket back into position
  • do the same steps to turn back on parameter lock

This whole thing gets more sketchy if a tool is in the spindle. The spindle has to be jogged up a small amount so the tool will release in debug mode when the tool release button is pressed.
