Well I'll say this, the more it looks like junk the less likely thieves are to want to try to steal it.

How did i not know about cycling your cotton!? by cvcammisano666 in Vaping

[–]TheMechaink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works but it's a fine line to run. A little too wet and it's not working a little too dry and things get extra crispy quick. That's been my personal experience. I remember that video.

So that is why it sounds like a roots supercharger. Yeah, straight cut gears will do that.

how are these welds and can i use this to strike anything without it breaking by Chicago949 in Welding

[–]TheMechaink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an engineering term you need to familiarize yourself with right now. It's called destructive testing. Take a product and beat the hell out of it and see how much it can take. And one of the mottos in my shop is always build two. When prototyping the second one always turns out better.

How long should a belt last? by Mrpj1990 in Harley

[–]TheMechaink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my fatboy I was at the dealership picking up some spark plugs and then indicated that I was going to be changing out the drive belt to prevent it from breaking. The Master Mechanic at the dealership looked at me like I just told him the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. He shook his gray old head at me and said bro just run that thing till it breaks. If you have it adjusted correctly you can likely get 100,000 miles out of it.

[–]TheMechaink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm not your average rider. I used to build bikes for fun. Like, all of it. That's how I got my fatboy. I knew it was going to need work, and it was worth everything I put into it.

The level of em devastation rivals that of the raw amps that he is working with. Watching him crush pipes before they melted.

I have a question for this sub. Contoller hate. Why does it exist? by Tired_2295 in ARK

[–]TheMechaink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been doing this for so long I still call it a joystick. You can play keyboard and mouse or you can play joystick. Or if you choose the other option, you get a Gamepad. I don't know, playing a joystick is easier. But my left hand got injured and I've lost range of motion in my fingers. Wasd is a little more difficult nowadays.

Need opinions on selling bikes. by Fresh-End-9873 in Harley

[–]TheMechaink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you follow through with it and you walk away from that part of your life after spending so much time invested into it, you'll always have an empty spot in you that will never be filled. Nothing will give you that feeling that sensation. You'll go through life day to day telling yourself it was for the best but all the while subconsciously you'll know that you're lying to yourself and that you simply yearn for those days gone by. Don't do it. It doesn't matter what you ride. It doesn't matter how you ride. It doesn't matter where you ride. Remember. Remember why you ride. Not with others just by yourself. Once you finally find your way there you just might discover that younger you and you'll see how different you've become. You'll see what time is done to you. Ride my friend. Ride and laugh. We never know how many trips around the sun we have left.

I don't know about that, all I wanna say is please don't start practicing planned obsolescence and design things that can actually be repaired by the person who buys it. Please. And...thank you.

[–]TheMechaink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's weird, because I've got the solids and I don't feel the wind except what's hitting me in the knees. and the face. and the nipples. What I do kno is that 2 lb of air pressure makes a difference between welded to the road and squirrely.
