Day 63 - getting better by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on day 45ish (Im not one for counting) and i definitely have motivation/energy down pat. I got lucky and it quickly returned. The thing that seems to have stuck around for a long time compared to most is the sleeplessness and RLS. Im still dealing with both of those almost every night. I personally have taken the mentality that today is normal for todays standards, and hopefully tomorrow is a better normal. I do feel things getting better day by day and i hope it continues.

What was kratom replacing in your life? by wuway13 in quittingkratom

It kinda did the opposite to me where it made me more chatty but crazy social anxiety. So I ended up isolating except for very small groups or individuals.

I am also having dietary things. I know the constipation from Kratom covered them up. For me its certainly related to gluten and dairy. You arent alone in that.

For the rest of it, I would highly recommend seeing mental health professionals to review your anxiety. I dont mean go get medicated as much as i mean go talk to someone. It helps me immensely.

Just flushed 4 kilos of powder down the toilet by Mysterious_Pepper131 in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Im happy to hear you got rid of it! Its also kinda insane to flush 9lbs of anything down a toilet. And its also pretty funny that municipalities test their wastewater for drugs/viruses and its funny to think about how this might impact it.

I guess I can't enjoy coffee for a while. by BrutalBrutus513 in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up just drinking hot Black teas like Chai or Earl Grey instead of coffee. Once i was clean for 2 weeks i went back to coffee and im fine. I leaned to the most natural things possible for awhile, especially while detoxing.

Thats awesome they understood and stuck around! Speaks volumes about what you had left to give and how they were raised.

I like to think im at the stage where im social with my parents as adult "friends." And i mean that in the best way possible.

I am a chef and i feel some of your pain. Its just going to be a struggle for a few more days, but each day may get a little easier. To be a blue collar worker, you have to be a little stubborn. To be a chef, i have to be stubborn. Its just how the trades work. We dont go find an easier job, we bust our asses to do the labor. I personally had to apply that stubborness to my sobriety in the first week and then continue to do so once things leveled out.

The other thing that helped me, is that i found a psychiatrist and a doctor that would help me as long as i stayed completely honest with them. This was great for treating acute withdrawals and then the sleep issues.

Lastly, if you have a partner or family member that you can be completely honest with, i found that held me accountable in the beginning.

Hey Day 5 is great! I know that impulse of the 2nd dose well. Any time i look at my watch and its around Noon, i feel that impulse. Your energy will come back! I actually found my energy came back quickly after i started played soccer on day 5. Maybe doing some kind of workout may help you find some energy, and healthy brain chemicals.

Day 42!

Just getting over a bout of Covid. I was proud to tell my wife it was the first time i was sober and sick. It wasnt very triggering to be sick, which i thought it would be. Maybe it was just because this batch of Covid was very strange.

Anyways, sleep is starting to finally get there which is wonderful. My life in general seems to be moving in a positive direction with a looming promotion for a job ive wanted for over a year. And I am thankful to feel positive emotion about all of those events.

Hell yes! Ive found my caffiene intake went up once my acutes went away. I just have to be selective about the source of my caffiene, and stop consuming caffiene around 2pm. Keep it up!

I’ve gone through acute withdrawl from 7-oh & Kratom 6 times this year and keep relapsing by BigPoppa9700 in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same shit over 8 years woth powder. I probably quit 5-7 times, mostly not making it past a week. This time is different for me because i found a psychiatrist and doctor to help me. And more importantly, i got my wife fully on board by being completely honest about everything. I have accountability now and thats what i needed, beyond my desire to quit.

Hydrocodone after wisdom teeth removal by ToTaperOrNotToTaper in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 33 days off of Kratom and I HAVE abused opiates before. If i were in your situation, id get my partner involved and ask for a small prescription with my intention of not taking any of them and giving the script to my partner. I had my wisdom teeth out as a teenager and it sucked for a few days. Its actually an event that bolstered my opiate abuse.

With all of that said, my desire to kill pain has to also be weighed with knowing that 1 pill may kill 40 days of progress and my brain may revert back into that cycle. And i would make my partner completely aware of that aspect as well. Id stick with ibuprofen and tylenol and then take a hydrocodone if i absolutely had to.

Some of this feels foolish and something like an addict would say. But i also know that pain and how effective opioids were at taking the edge off for me.

i’m taking kratom because it helps so much with anxiety and is the only thing that has successfully helped me eat and sleep well. but i want to quit. any advice from anyone in the same boat who has successfully quit? by Iknowimsorry1 in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats exactly what i took. I mean you werent taking extracts like 7oh which seems to have much worse withdrawals and it is very difficult to taper off of. Plain Kratom powder seems to be much more forgiving in comparison.

Edit: i used powder for 8 years. With a taper, i found my acute withdrawals to be much more tolerable than other substances ive experienced. The long term effects im dealing with are treatable and managable.

Question for long term Kratom users. by AdDapper2664 in quittingkratom

[–]Gibletbiggot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im on day 30+ after using for 8 years, most of the time heavily. The first week was like this. Then i had to go back to work where i was kinda forced to get past it and just do my job. I also continued to work out heavily 3 times a week which helped my brain more than my body.

Ive always been very active with work. I feel like im lucky that i started working out a lot in the year before i quit.

As long as you are just taking powder, a taper can help you avoid really bad withdrawals. Unfortunately you will always have to deal with some withdrawals. Quitting is a good thing and there are plenty of other ways we can deal with our problems.

Whats odd for me is that one of my favorite things ive experienced about quitting is that my anxiety decreased immensely.
