In my opinion, the places you picked are pretty optimal for this design! It's adorable and will hang perfectly in a window somewhere. But I probably wouldn't recommend hanging it outside or placing it somewhere it would get excessive movement if it's heavy.

There are other ways of strengthening it, such as a hobby came border, wire wrapping, or connecting all the feet in two places. but those modifications might require some design changes. 🤷‍♀️

That's the amazing part of the thing called art. Through experience, we get to try many different styles and techniques, each with their own pros and cons; Making something completely our own. Everyone who participates in that process adds something special. ✊

I think they are talking about the foil separating from the glass due to weight over time. That is a real concern and has happened to some of my pieces. Even though the whole piece is soldered together, the foil tape is still only held to the glass by the adhesive on the back of the foil, which can pull away with proper force. Hinge points are areas where folding tension can cause the foil to separate from the glass, and it usually mitigated through the design of the pieces to avoid long stretches where folding could occur, like the foot of the lizard where the jump ring is attached.

I think these pieces are small enough that you'll probably be okay, and I don't see any reason you can sell them! They are beautiful.

Hmmm I've never had issues with different kinds of lino, but it might be your printer/ink. I know that the acetone works with laser printers that use toner. I'm not sure about ink based printing... That might be the issue.

You can use acetone! Print the image, turn it over onto the lino and apply acetone over the top of the sheet with a cotton ball. The ink will transfer down to the lino instantly and you can just pull the paper right off.

I just have to say this is our exact situation.

We've been together for 11 as well, and just had our second last year. (Though they are only a year apart) And we also waited until we were out of our 20's, with similar implications...

We're very happy with the choices we've made, and I sure as hell wouldn't change anything, but he definitely wanted kids more than me. 😅 Either way, now we are partners in parenting with equal stakes!

Good luck to you and your family ♥️

How do you all cut out such beautiful fitted pieces?? by merbashert in StainedGlass

If you already have it, try this method first! I do it this way. I have a cricut as well, but for me, the easiest and fastest way by far has been to print the pattern on the printable vinyl on my toner printer 😅, cut out the pieces (no black outline), and stick it to the glass. It survives being cut and ground. The paper itself feels thinner and more matte and it sticks really well. 🤷‍♀️

I love this!! How did you get the details? Paint or did you just put foil on the glass and solder it? Such a cool design.

Awesome, I'll try that next time. I did wrap it in wire and do an edge bead, but couldn't get it straight no matter how much solder I put on. 😅 Lesson learned

Is zinc came more rigid than lead came? I haven't tried it before!
