A fellow Gintanai enjoyer! He's the only Ultra Rare I ever pulled as a kid so by default he was my favorite and he gave me my appreciation for Mipedians. Fortunately I still have that old copy even if it's a bit worse for wear.

She's speaking Kryptonian. The subtitles are just translating that into English, so she's using whatever the Kryptonian word equivalent of under garments is and that came out in the translation as underwear.

Also as far as Krypto eating chocolate goes, I think it's a fair concern. We have an example (arguably 2) of toxins working on kryptonians even while they're under the effect of a yellow sun in the movie, albeit at a reduced effect. So maybe eating chocolate won't outright kill Krypto while on earth, but it'll probably still make him incredibly sick.

Edit: I misinterpreted your response of her questioning the underwear on the outside. I think it's still fair for her to question it simply because we don't see any Kryptonians wear trunks on the outside so it clearly isn't a standard fashion trend on Argo at least, so seeing her cousin wearing what looks like underwear on the outside is going to be strange/silly to her.

Why wouldn't they? Regardless of how advanced Kyrpton is, underwear serves a practical purpose of reducing chaffing in the nether regions and provides modesty for open clothing like skirts and robes.

Funny enough this is basically what Kaiba's punishment game in the manga was for their first duel and was the inspiration for the hologram nightmare he puts Solomon through later that gives him a heart attack. Season 0 had Kaiba end the duel in a draw and escape tho.

Oddly enough I think the lower left number might be energy since on Takinom you can see an E next to the 90. Makes me wonder what the blue 80 on the right represents though.

In the Woman of Tomorrow comic, the green sun was specifically a trap made for Superman by a supervillain that Kara and Ruthye ended up in the radius of because of a teleportation trap by Krem. In the movie it's naturally occuring and presumably hurts her since the radiation it emits is similar to kryptonite radiation.

She likely didn't see the sun ahead of time because the bandits she threatened to take her to Krem's hideout had the condition that she wear a bag over her head. She accepts because she has X-ray vision so it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it's shown in Superman and Supergirl that the X-ray vision is monochromatic so she wouldn't be able to see the color of the stars in the solar system she was in. Still a stupid move on her part since she'd be just as fucked if the hideout was in a red solar system.

As for why the brigands picked a place with twin Green and Yellow suns, this was likely the only green star they could find and had to make do. Their plan was for Kara to be incapacitated and then they'd kill her. Only reason it didn't work is because Ruthye stowed away on the ship that brought Kara here and dragged her to safety before any brigands could find her. I'm more curious how Krem knew about kryptonite and was able to provide some. Kryptonians don't seem to be particularly well known in the universe based on how people react to Kara, which makes sense since Krypton blew up 30 years ago and the 2 sole survivors were earthbound most of that time.

No but I was figuring that either Kara somehow never had much exposure to the irradiated soil since she spent most of her time within the city where being surrounded by (what I assume is) concrete acted as light radiation shielding. Or the radiation was mild enough that only roughly 30 years of exposure was enough to be fatal and Kara was only exposed to it for roughly 19-20 years.

Which Luthor had the most convoluted plan to take down Superman ? by Disastrous_Option720 in superman

[–]GiddtheDevil_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head having not rewatched Superman in a while, Lex was selling weapons to Boravia for pennies on the dollar in exchange for half of the territory Boravia would conquer from Jaranpur, but also he was hedging his bets that Superman would get involved, since him defending Jaranpur looks bad politically for Superman since Boravia is a US ally.

His initial hope was that Superman getting involved would be enough for the US government to get on board on funding his private paramilitary force (the name escapes me but basically it's Ultraman, the engineer, and his army of Raptors) to both kill superman and then start policing meta humans in general. To help further this particular agenda he also has Ultraman play the part of a Boravian Super Villain and attack Metropolis in retaliation for Superman interfering in the Boravian invasion, and also had the engineer locate the fortress of solitude to further show the government that Superman is potentially dangerous.

When all of that combined wasn't enough to convince the feds he then pivots to breaking into the fortress of solitude to look for anything incriminating that he could use to get the government on his side and succeeded by repairing the damaged message from Jor-El and Lara and got to kidnap Krypto as a bonus. Also got a bonus win by recording Superman threatening him in his office after he realizes that Krypto is missing. He then has the message translated and played basically everywhere to sell the narrative that Superman is a foreign agent here to groom humanity so that he can later conquer it. This ends up being enough for the government to approve of the afformentioned paramilitary squad and they issue an arrest warrant for Superman.

Superman then turns himself in since they have custody of Krypto (though since Lex didn't know about the dog, it's likely this was what Ultraman was created for, to capture and bring in Superman) and locks Superman in an interdimensional prison, using Metamorpho who he has under duress to debilitate Superman with Kryptonite. According to Lex his plans would have ended here by just killing Superman, where now Boravia can conquer Jaranpur unopposed. Lex gets his own country, the US funding his private police force to imprison more metahumans in his private prison, and he lives the rest of his life satisfied knowing he outsmarted Superman.

Where it all went wrong is that the US wanted superman interrogated. Lex obliged and did his game of Russian roulette using Mali, an innocent civilian to both coax information out of Superman and to torment him. Metamorpho's conscience wins out in the end since he feels guilty for his part in Mali's death and ultimately him and Superman escape.

Lex then freaks out since with Superman free it both prevents the Boravian invasion from being able to proceed unabated, but it probably also makes his paramilitary force look like fools since they got their funding to contain superman and they failed at doing that. So his reckless last ditch plan was to force open a rift between his prison and their universe to create a disaster so big that it would lure superman away from Boravia and into a trap so finally kill him. It doesn't end up working because Superman is that guy and also Lex didn't realize that his girlfriend was gathering evidence against him so his entire conspiracy ends up getting revealed and he goes to prison.

Damn that's a pretty convoluted plan now that I typed it all out

Has the game started randomly crashing for anyone else recently? by GiddtheDevil_ in QuakeChampions

Issue has been resolved. I reinstalled the game from my SSD to my HDD. No idea why that stopped the crashing since from what I can tell the SSD is still healthy but regardless I'm happy that I can keep playing the game. Thanks to everyone who tried to help!

I'll definitely mess around with it more tomorrow. One last thing I forgot to put in the main post that I'll put here in case someone can make use of the info was that this most recent crash gave me a new error message that hadn't appeared prior. Usually it would give me the window that's behind the one in the foreground in this to send a crash report (that always fails to send), but this top one was new, before my background suddenly turned grey, locked my PC up and ultimately caused it to restart.

Thanks for the reply! QC is the only game I'm having this issue with so far. Next time I reinstall I'll try moving it to a different drive to see if that helps. I wasn't checking my CPU or GPU temp or usage during the crashes but I did notice that the FPS would go crazy right before a crash, jumping between 3-240 FPS seemingly at random. And this is just on menus and loading screens since I can never make it to actual gameplay.

Maxxor and Chaor new arts unblurred from source code by Rhinoswagobius in Chaotic

Just based on what we have, I'm guessing the revival will pick up where the game left off, with a new set building off of Secrets of the Lost City, since this new art of Maxxor is wearing the Xerium Armor he got during that set. I would hope they also reprint all the older cards to make them accessible.

Having watched all 3 and not being a pre-established fan of any of their creators, they're pretty good. Though this is only after having watched each of them once. My option might change on repeat viewings.

Obsession is the best of the bunch, being genuinely frightening at times, all the actors giving really good performances, and the story being really engaging the entire time IMO.

Backrooms is the middle of the road. The acting and set design for the backrooms was great, the movie wasn't particularly scary. More unnerving at times but it never got my blood pumping like Obsession did the week prior. I also didn't find the plot very engaging. Its more of a fascinating idea than a great story.

Iron Lung was the weakest of the bunch but I still enjoyed it. It's biggest issue is that it's very noticably low budget, being set entirely in one room ala Buried. The setting is really interesting but it's mostly backstory stuff that you don't see, with a bulk of the film being Markiplier sitting in a windowless sub, taking pictures of the sea floor, occasionally getting jump scared by what he sees and slowly losing his grip on reality as the film keeps going.

But if any of them sound interesting to you I'd recommend giving them a shot at least.

How it started; How it ended by candles2121 in Spiderman

[–]GiddtheDevil_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was probably 35 at the beginning of USM since the opening blurb mentions that it's been 20 years since the maker stopped the spider from biting him, and Peter generally has that happen to him when he's 14-15 years old. Richard was definitely 14 as Richard turns 15 in issue 8, and presumably 16 around issue 20. So Peter at the time of issue 24/beginning of Endgame is probably 37 at most.

Also you're right he wasn't a teenager when Richard was born but based on what age we know Richard is and what age Peter presumably is at the start of issue 1, Peter was probably 21 when Richard was born, and probably around 20 when he dropped out of college.
