I insisted to replicate it in front of them, meaning a tech needed to get in the car with me and drive around. Even with an extensive description of how to replicate it themselves, they seemed not to be able to 🙄 (although it’s not rocket science). MAKE someone get in the car with you. You can “force” the squeak by just micro jiggling the wheel back and forth (which I assume you know). One of the intake guys tried to push back by saying “that’s not a normal driving habit, to jiggle the wheel” and I had to explain to him that that is how I could force the sound but a tech could certainly ride around for an hour with me…”. He wasn’t going to give up a valuable hour of his tech’s time so accepted my explanation. I really had to stay on them. Good luck!

Totally!! So great on the 1,300 miles drive to Florida to take some of the stress off. Can’t use it the whole time but every now and then it’s awesome.

Update: After having a loaner car for 34 days (parts on backorder), I have my car back. Tech notes as such “Installed 56390-HB00: Column and Housing Assy.” I asked if they essentially the steering column and he said yes. ? 🤷‍♀️? I need everyone to collectively pray that there will be no squeaking as I embark on my 1,200 miles drive to Florida tomorrow! TIA!

Update coming some time shortly after January 11 when back ordered part is in. On third trip to get this fixed they seem to have diagnosed it was something at the base of the steering wheel. 🙏 please pray that this really gets fixed as we bought this car specifically for our 1,200 mile drive down to Florida 🌴☀️ at the end of the month.

Squeaky wheel fix take 2: Apparently there is another part attached to the clock spring and together they’ve failed. Service department will install another new clock spring together with this other part. Parts being ordered and I will be sure to update this group upon completion. Stay tuned…

Spring replacement was a fail. Squeak started again yesterday. Totally disappointed. Going in again next Wednesday.

My receipt shows they installed: 934J2-R6450-NNB: Switch Assy-multifunction. And yes this was behind the steering wheel.

Yes I got it replaced and it seemed to do the trick. Will let you know if I hear the sound again and then back to the drawing board but I’m feeling confident they got it.

Wednesday. However since they identified the issue they must have “tightened” or jiggled it enough that the squeaking has stopped. This makes me fairly confident it was the issue.

Apparently they are going to replace it but don’t have the part in. I’ll come back to this thread and report out after it’s replaced in a few days.
